What do I need to do? I was really planning on using it for my tuition, but I'm getting worried. My parents don't have theirs either.

  1. Go to irs.gov and follow the link to stimulus check.

  2. Were you claimed as a dependent by your parents?  If you are a dependent, you aren't eligible, so won't get one.  If you claimed yourself and your parents claimed you too, then neither of you would get a stimulus payment until it gets resolved.

When did you file? If you efiled very close to 4/15, or mailed your return after mid-March, it's likely that you missed the cutoff for your return being processed by 4/15 so missed this first round - if so, you'll probably get your check in August.

  3. On their tax return, did your parents claim you as a dependent?  If so, you won't get a stimulus check.

When did you file your taxes?  Prior to April 15 or did you have an extension?  If you filed on time, go to www.irs.gov and check their "where's my stimulus payment" link.  If a check has been issued for you, the data will show up there.  The schedule for payments is also on the site.  They should be on the very last batch of checks by this point.

Did you have enough income to qualify?  If you were a student and only working a little, did you have at least $3000 in taxable income?

  4. It's supposed to be in no later than August 6th. If you don't have it by then, contact them.

  5. I called 1-800-829-0582 ext 726 and spoke to a live person, they admitted they screwed several of them up and they are just sitiing in limbo waiting to processed. The person I spoke to told me to send in another return and on the top write"duplicate stimulas payment" now I have to wait another 6 to eight weeks. Not saying the same thing happenned to you, but you should call and check, my mistake was not checking the box for qualifying children and it just got thrown to the side, hope this helps
