I filed my taxes, received two notices from IRS that I will receive $ 600.00. waited through all the time frames to receive the payment and still nothing. I did not change any home addresses, any banks. All still the same. What could be the holdup. I can not find anything on the web, or the listed irs phone #. I had a foreclosure, but the debt was cancelled. Could this be the reason why?

  1. No, I had heard that a lot of checks were lost and/or stolen while being sent through the mail, etc. so those could be possible reasons. Um, other than that, I'm really not sure why you wouldn't have received it because I think the last checks were supposed to be sent by the end of July.

To get ahold of the IRS, you may try this website:

    http://www.irs.gov/localcontacts/index.h...

Good luck with getting your check!

  2. I would try this link: (you may have to cut and paste into your browser)

    https://sa2.www4.irs.gov/irfof/IRServlet...

Fill out your info, and it should give you an update. If not, it will give you the contact info for the IRS.

  3. Contact IRS at 1-800-829-1040 or 1-800-829-1954 to inquire about your stimulus rebate.

FYI: if you have any unfiled tax returns between 2002 and 2006 IRS is holding your rebate until you file all your tax returns.

  4. You should receive your Rebate via direct deposit as well.  I think all time frames for the Rebate have passed.  I would call the IRS 800# and ask someone to check on it for you.  Their # is in the 1040 Booklet you got to file your taxes.

There may be some problem with the foreclosure ~ but I don't know.  If you had default taxes or a default student loan the IRS would have kept the Rebate to satisfy some of that.  Call the IRS and check it out.

IRS.gov to find the phone number.

  5. The foreclosure shouldn't have caused a delay unless you got a 1099-C for it for 2007 and didn't declare it on your return - even if that's the case it probably wouldn't have caught up with you yet.  If it's for an earlier year and you ignored it on your return, that could be the problem - you might owe some back taxes.

Unless you owe back taxes or child support, or have defaulted student loans, then you should have gotten it a few days after the date shown on the last letter for mailing your payment - and if you DO owe for one of those, you should have gotten another letter saying why you didn't and wouldn't receive it.

You could `call the IRS and ask,  This isn't as easy as it sounds, since their lines are pretty backed up these days

The one thing that's weird about your situation is your comment that you received TWO notices saying you would get $600 - they only normally send one.  Read those again carefully and see if there's something there to give a hint of what's going on.  Also, enter your info at  https://sa2.www4.irs.gov/irfof/IRServlet... and see if it gives you any more info, then post back here with what it says.

  6. Yes, definitely try the links above.  Also, try 800 829 0582 ext 462 or 726.  I use both and I'm able to get thru to a live person every time when I call early in the morning (before 9am) or late at night (after 7pm).  Both are local times.
