I have antenna for T.V and brought a new DVD player w/ built in antenna plugs. I plug in the 2 plugs from the antenna into the DVD player that is desginated for antenna outlets, and there was no picture, the DVD is working because l saw "play" display, and no matter the different ways l tried, l still can't watch the any DVDs. because there is no screen,no picture. I've tried 3 different brands also(Sony, panasonic,a Target brand)When l turn to channel 3,there was no picture at all. What l am doing wrong? There are not a lot of DVD players now with built in antenna plugs. I don't know if l should pay over $100 to repair my 2001 model DVD player(when l plug into that one, it worked). What's the mystery here? It worked on my older 2001 model DVD,and the new ones still have the built in turner plugs for my antenna T.V set. I follow the directions and NO PICTURE!

What l did l do wrong?Should l tried another brand? or pay for repair?

  1. You may not be using the right connections.

Most DVD players with antenna in/out connectors use these just as a "pass-through" of the antenna - they are not used to play a DVD.

To play a DVD you need to use the other connectors: the Video/Audio RCA connectors, S-Video, or any of the myriad other connectors that may lurk on the back of your player.  And for your TV to "watch" these connections rather than the antenna input, you have to tell it which inputs to watch: A/V, S-Video or whatever.

The only way to make most DVD players play through an antenna connector is to buy a separate RF converter, that takes the Audio/Video inputs and puts it out on a coaxial cable.
