Yeah I stole from my last job and took around $280 in merchandise and they found out and I got fired a few weeks later police came to my door and arrested me and took me to jail to get my court date so I went to court and the judge told me to stay clean for 6 months no idea why he said that so now since I'm a senior in high school and summer is ending Im needing to get a after school job and dont know what to put if I've commited a felony and if I should put the job I got fired from stealing from also Im wondering since im senior in highschool and I was thinking of going to the army after graduation will this prevent me from getting recruited?

  1. you have to be honest if it was a felony on your application...you should put that you left because of "personal reasons" and you could explain this if they ask...this is the information I found about the army and felonies:

One of the most common questions we get is "Can I Join the Army if I have a Felony". This F.A.Q. Answers that questions and outlines what other offenses that may keep from joining the U.S. Army.

All branches of the military are different when it comes to recruiting standards, but they all have regulations regarding felonies. The military maintains a high "moral" standard for recruits and is the basis for not allowing most felonies. If the felony occurred when you were a juvenile you have a better chance of getting in the military but if the felony occurred as an adult you may have a hard time getting in, if at all. In either case it all comes down to the type of offense and how long ago it was. When you apply to the military you are required to tell the recruiting of any incidents that resulted in arrest or in charges being filed. It is a felony not to disclose this information.

Some of the crimes that can keep you out of the army are larceny, assault, rape, drug related and murder. Obviously the more violent the crime, the more serious the crime, the less likely the military is to overlook it. Some minor crimes may be overlooked if significant time has passed since you were convicted and have since had no other felonies. Still, this day and age it's highly unlikely you'll be able to join up, the Army is very picky about recruits and wants the best candidates they can get.

as for going to college for computers you would have to talk to a school councler about this one...good luck...and I hope you learned something from all of this

  2. I'm not 100% sure but I don't think you'll be charged with a felony.  A felony would involve stealing a great deal more than $280 in merchandise... but I could be wrong.

Learn from this, that's all I can say.  Good luck to you.

  3. First off find out if it went on your record it sounds like the judge cut you a break and basically said if you are clean for 6 months after this it won't go on your record, so that's first

Second you probably could get into the Army now even with a criminal record they are hurting for volunteers that bad, only thing is it's only in specific jobs like Infantry.

Also computer animation is a very difficult field to get into my Sister-In-Laws boyfriend is almost finished with school doing that and he is having a h**l of a time trying to find anyone interested in hiring him so something to consider as well is if you go through that school and program and complete and graduate it, will their be a job for me after it.

  4. ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah...

  5. If you stay clean for the 6 months will this incident not go on your record? Usually on a job app it will ask if you have been convicted of a felony which it doesn't sound like you have been yet. It shouldn't prevent you from joining the army or going to college. Just fly right for 6 months and prove to the judge you learned your lesson. Good luck!
