but I am still producing milk. Is this bad? Why am I still producing milk? It's not a lot, I'm not getting engorged or anything like that, but I can express milk still, I did miscarry last monday though, I was 6 wks and 6 days, could this have anything to do why I'm still producing milk?

  1. This is normal.  I know several women who continued to produce milk months after they stopped breastfeeding.  It will dry up eventually.

  2. hey, I was still producing or at least could express milk out 18 months after my son was born. I stopped nursing at 14 months.

I am now pregnant and it never went away.

it is totally normal and some women I have talked to can express milk even a couple of years after!

  3. this is very normal. I have known several women who have produced milk for a year sometimes more. It's not like you are going to leak on your clothes or anything, but it's normal and no big deal. I was still producing milk a year after I stopped nursing my son. I think it can be even more true for women who nursed long. Like a year and so.

  4. The miscarriage should not have anything to do with it. But some women have trouble stopping the production of milk. I would wear cabbage leaves in my bra and talk to my doctor about ways to dry up the milk.

  5. Yes, that could very well be the reason why you are still producing milk. Sorry for lose, but congrats on a healthy one year old!

  6. you may produce for months, so relax.  you are normal.  the milk is caused by hormones.
