I felt sobre. I did not feel ill, but had this feeling that I couldn't trust myself to drive. I did kind of feel like my judgement wasn't normal.

I had loads of water to drink. I think I had about 7 alcoholic drinks. Could I really have had that much alcohol still in me, or is it due to dehydration or vitamins or something?

I don't often drink so need suggestions!

  1. you might want to make it more of a habit...or just stop all together.  my son and i often talk, text, or email about our present "conditions."  he called me a few hours ago and i was getting rapidly derailed on some strong double bock beers.  he is almost 25 and i am 48, but i feel like we are college room-mates.  he is in Seattle and me in Dallas area.  we love to drink together, so b/c we are so apart we help each other figure out what to do on any given day.  we are not your typical drinkers.  he has not been drinking fr over a month. and i have not had a drink in 2 months... but he recently went to Hawaii with his girlfriend, and i sent him $$$ for his birthday.  he drank cheap Mexican beer the whole time they were there.  i used to drink scotch.  when we are together, we drink lots of red wine.  i called him the other day from outside the liquor store and asked his opinion for how to spend about $15.  He said to get potato vodka as it mixes well with anything and has a kick.  (his mom left me a few months ago and i had decided that i needed a drink on this day)  soo, what should you do about your situation?  don't fret.  just go with it.  and of course if you are planning to drive - do not drink.

  2. sounds like a class 1 hangover.... how to fix, when you wake up, take a big p**p, drink 2 glasses of water and a multi vitamin, dont eat heavy till after lunch time

  3. IT usually takes at least 24 hrs to get over a good hangover...Happy Hangover!!! It's good to drink lots of water and help it run it coarse.

  4. Trust your intuition - if you still mistrust yourself to drive, don't.  It takes about 24 hours for that much alcohol to work its way through your system.  You would probably feel okay to drive by around 7 or 8pm, but not truly feel you've shaken all the aftereffects of your hangover until you go to sleep again.

Take a multivitamin - there are lots of studies that suggest that B-12 can help you feel normal quicker.

And lay off the booze!  Seven drinks in one night really is a lot.  To avoid hangover:  Have two drinks within an hour of one another.  Within an hour, you'll have a pleasant buzz on.  Then pace yourself.  No more than one drink every hour - 45 minutes if you plan to stay overnight.  You'll have a slight hangover, depending on how much you consume, but overall, the experience will be nicer than just getting sloppy, throwing up drunk, and the day after will definitely go easier on you.

  5. it takes a hour to get 1 unit out of your system, so it depends on how strong the drinks were

  6. It's probably going to be  a hangover. If you don't trust yourself to drive, don't.

If you plan to drink, I suggest you do so wisely. Keep well hydrated, never drink on an empty stomach, and don't mix drinks. (e.g. Beer, followed by vodka, followed by wine, followed by rum is bad). Eating salty foods also helps to metabolize the alcohol, but none of these things will prevent you from getting drunk. they'll only slow the process down.

About hangovers specifically: you are, in general, more likely to get a hangover from a darker alcohol than a lighter one. Darker alcohols have more toxins in the,

Be sure to know your limit and know what proof you're drinking, for mixed drinks especially. As in, your average mudslide may taste like chocolate-y heaven, but don't go overboard, Just because you can't taste the alcohol doesn't mean it's not there.
