  1. I used to pull the hair out of the underneath of my hair, cuz it was crispy and fried and it took about a year to grow out to same length as my hair.

    I think yours might take longer since it's so short where you pulled it?

  2. I'm so glad to hear you were able to stop pulling your hair out.  What ultimately did you do to stop?  I have a friend who's daughter suffers from the same diagnosis that you do.  She started pulling her hair out at age 11.  She is now 19 and still, occasionally, will pull all of her hair out over about a period of a week, keep in mind that she will have grown her out enough to where she can go without wearing a hat, bandanna or some sort of hair wrap & again, will pull it out.  Based on reading I have done for this particular condition, the following is what I believe will aide in helping hair growth:

    1.  Look for hair products that are completely alcohol free - alcohol is a drying agent for the scalp causing flakiness;

    2.  Look for hair products that contain Silica, Biotin, Niacin, Panthenol, Eucalyptus (opens hair follicles and acts as a cooling agent for a dry, irritated scalp) and last but not least, ginger root.  Some good hair products I swear by are Bio-silk, Matrix Biolage Hydrating, Bumble & Bumble Leave In Vitamin Spray, Redken Anti-Snap to name a few.

    3.  Try and only wash your hair every other day and only condition 2-3 times a week with a light conditioner (to prevent build up and clogged hair follicles).

    4.  Take vitamins like GNC Ultra Mega for Women (Multi Vitamin), Silica, Niacin, Biotin and Vitamins A, B & D.  Folic Acid is also good to take.

    There is so much more a person can do to promote hair re-growth.  I say read, read, read as much as you can on this subject and the more you are bound to learn, for sure!  P.S. you might want to consult with a neurologist as I believe your condition falls under the care of this type of specialist.  Long hair or bald, you coming forth and disclosing this problem you've had for years, makes you pretty inside out!  Good luck girly!

  3. The speed of hair growth largely varies from person to person. On average, it's half an inch per month. Congratulations on fighting your trich problem, no sarcasm, seriously. I'm proud of you and I don't even know you like that. I hope you lead a happy life. :]
