  1. No, I don't think there is any danger of a bike being stolen from a third floor balcony.

  2. like the second guy said, they can just jump the balconies, but to be safe you may want to lock it up through the frame and the back wheel, and keep the front wheel and seatpost inside.

  3. No, it's too high up for someone to use a ladder let alone carry a heavy bike off a ladder 3 floors down if they were able to find a ladder tall enough.

  4. Lock your bike to the railing with one of those U-bolt locks.  Run the U-bolt through the front wheel and frame.  There is always a chance but doing that will reduce it dramaticly.

  5. Any risk? Yes, of course there is SOME risk. If you have adjoining balconies the risk would be somewhat higher. And unless you put it out there for show it may not even be seen.

  6. No. But why would they? You are storing it outside, the bike's going to rust. Bring your bike inside. All 4 of mine are inside, on a rack, locked!!!!

  7. If someone wants it bad enough, I'm sure they would go for it.  Also depends if your bike is new/old. worth anything...

  8. If you have neighbor's that have balcony that is near to yours.. it might have risk been stolen as a person don't have to climb to the 3rd floor, they just have to jump through every neighbor's balcony to stole your bicycle .

The best is to lock your bicycle to the iron grilling on your balcony to avoid being stolen.

  9. I doubt you'd be asking this question if you didn't believe there was any chance of it being stolen.

That being the case, listen to what others have stated here.  Lock your bike.  It only takes a few seconds to lock and unlock, and you'll gain peace of mind having done so.
