Question:

I straightened my hair, but it's so bland- how can I style it?

So I permed my hair a few months ago. I decided to straighten it today. My side bangs grew out so it's just very bland. My hair goes down to my mid back, but it is layered and frames my face. How can I give it a little oomph? My birthday is today and we're going out to dinner later, and I don't want to look so bland. No camera for pictures... sorry. =/ Here's an older picture of me last time I straightened my hair, but I want a different style:

PS- If you provide pictures, explain how I would actually go about styling to get the hair in the picture. Oh, and I DO give 10 pts for best answer. =)

  1. okay- so heres one for ya!

while you hair is still wet, comb through it (not brush it)

then shake you hair all over the place to make sure its not sticking to your head ( this leads to problems like dandruff)

then blow dry you hair in kinda the opposite direction you will want it to be going (i know the sounds crazy but heear me out)

then when you are using your straightening tool on your hair.. take smallish pieces starting from your bottom layer (if you have to pull some up to do so..go for it)

then just straighten it but dont make it way flat, when you are done smoothing your hair out (OH and make sure not to run your finger through it too much as this will cause grease, learn to use your comb)

just fluff up your hair a little ( i just kinda shake up the top few layers with my fingers and use a light hold hair spray like Aveda's -air controll-)

and make sure its not crunchy

this should give you a smoothed out feel with a not so 'overdone' look to it, if you want to pull it off to the side a little bit a bobby pin or two. or just let it be. maybe put a very small braided piece from an under layer and pull some hair forward, just to get people looking ;)

BTW.. dont back comb it or tease it or anything.. few people do it right

    hope i helped

    =)

  2. Try using wax, or backcombing sections of your hair to add a little volume.

You could also trying blow-drying your hair for a few seconds upside down & adding a little hair spray to boost your hair.

  3. Did you have thermal reconditioning done?

i had it done a few weeks ago.

you can still use a curling iron to give it a little life.   It will hold the curl with a little hair spray.  You can filp the bangs under then brush them to the side, then curl the ends under or up.  It will stil be smooth and straight, but it will also have a little style to it.

    happy birthday!!   ☺
