Ok, i had to take a test last year to get into my high school. And it turned out i got a high score on my math test to get into it. i never thought i would be able to get into a collage prep algebra... and i dont know if it was the teacher that screwed me over!!! all i know is that i wish i left the school i always wanted something challenging but the teacher didnt even explain anything to me she talk in math language most of the time!!! i really need help :( i think i should leave this school but its a good school because i want to become a programmer and they offer me that in this school... but if i need to use math in programming(i love computers and how they work) then never mind i will have to find something that i would be good at:( i think joining the army or marines would be more for me because i suck at math! soooo much...you dont even know i bet im the only retarded person in my school thats sucks at it...... i already picked programming as my career but now i think if to much math is in it i should just leave it

  1. Writing software is not nearly as much about math as most people believe. How much and what kind you need really depends on what kind of software you write.

However, programming is foremost about problem solving. People who are good problem solvers tend to be good at math and good at programming.

For what it's worth, I started writing software without much more than high school algebra (but that was a long time ago when things were much easier). I went on to major in computer science and made a really good living at it for almost 30 years. Math was my least favorite subject. I didn't suck at it, but I did have to work at it.

In any case, it is pointless to pick a career at your age.
