  1. save up and buy the goggles that play the radio ($75)

  2. Without being a total freak about this, 2 things.

Blast some really energetic music (the kind that makes you want to get all crazy).

and the Butterfly Stroke. Not easy to do but oy! What a work out. You'll be buff in no time!

  3. Your workouts should already include the following:

    -Normal freestyle swimming

-Normal swimming of one or more of the three other competition strokes

-Kicking for freestyle using a kickboard

-Kicking for the other stroke with a kickboard

    -Pulling for freestyle

    -IM

-Hard lines on either every other line or every third line

-Sprint sets balanced with endurance sets

    -Timed swims

    -Start, turn and finishing practices

    -Drills for specific strokes

You can add other things like diving off the block and going through a hola hoop to get your spotting down right or if you have other people to swim with you can do different relays like doggypaddle relay, kick board relay and things like that.

  4. it seems like all the other things ( besides singing in your head) you'd have to do with the permission of a coach and I know mine is really hard core( eep! lol) and we never do anything fun... So what I do is I set a goal for myself: to get a certain time, catch the person in front of me, or if im having a bad day I work on one aspect of my stroke. As afore mentioned by someone singing a song in your head or even out loud ( dont breathe in!!!) Also, if i can think and still not go slower (which is actually kinda hard) I think about what homework I have and what order i'll do it in or if I have an issue with a friend I think of how to resolve it. If it comes down to it take a few days off and it should give you a new perspective.

Good Luck! I know swimming can get EXTREMELY boring!

  5. Sing a song while doing it, and if it doesnt mess up ur breathing to much, sing aloud when ur above water. Its funny, and if your on a team they'll like it. Or u can dance (sorta) under water
