I was kind of worried because it was the last set of clubs and the salesmen was looking for a stiff shaft and told me the uni-flex was just fine. oh yeah they are nike irons. Just wondering if he was just making the sale or do he do me right.

  1. if that is your speed on a 7 iron . from launch monitor you got screwed big time . take them back your shot will be a low screaming hook . 25 feet high . take them back . it is a rip off . old guys like me we use uniflex . with advil extensions . get a refund . or contact nike , they definatly will reshaft for you , with a stiffer high grade shaft . or if you want got great set of high kickpoint x stiff

  2. I wouldnt worry about the shaft...if he sold you Nike irons, he was just trying to make the sale.  He didnt do you right.  I havnt met a golf pro who liked Nike irons yet. (Teaching and club pros, not Tiger Woods.)

  3. Uni-flex is the same as senior flex.  If you swing your 7 iron that fast, you need a stiff flex shaft.  He got you.

  4. He was making a sale. You need to get stiff to x stiff shafts put on them. Uniflex is for old men. Im 23 and have the same swing speed, around 100 mph with a seven iron. You are right on the edge of going to an x stiff. 100 mph and above is the target.

The same thing happened to me at golf smith. These guys try to sell lynx clubs to everyone, thinking you'll be happier by spending less money. The clubs were garbage, but a great gift for my wife. (She thinks she plays golf while now she at least has clubs, golf isn't what i'd call the sport she plays) While in the long run, we usually are looking for something special, that gives us confidence, when others ask about our clubs. Then we can say that it is what we wanted for the reason that we went. Not the bonus the salesman gets off of selling a certain brand.

My recommendation is to do your own research, Your own testing, and then find what works for you. See if you want cavity backs or blades. hybrids or long irons. There is so much different about every golfer that i say all the research must be done by you.  Good luck man.

  5. I play uniflex on my Calloway's.  I don't know if they work the same as the Nike's or not but what I have found is they are Stiffer than regular shafts but not as stiff as say the Tru-Temper  S300.  The theory is that the faster you swing them the stiffer they get.  I have a friend who is a big hitter, very fast and powerful swing. He plays stiff shafts throughout his set and I asked him to hit my Irons on a few holes.  He hit a nice draw with the six and a very slight draw with the eight.  I asked him if they were too soft for him, and he said no and he was surprised that I could hit them as well as I do, because I can't hit his very well at all.

I guess the question is how do you hit them?  Do you hook them?  If you have not hit them yet and you are worried they are not right....take them back.  You can't be playing with clubs you don't have confidence in.

  6. If your 'playing' swing speed with a 7 iron is 95+ MPH you should consider an X-Flex (extra stiff shaft).  I've alway heard that 90 - 100 MPH with a driver is regular to uniflex and 100+ with a driver is stiff.  Also, by 'playing' swing speed, I mean if that's how you'd really swing a 7-iron on the course, not your swing speed when you wind up and swing as hard as humanly possible for the benefit of a launch monitor.

The condition to diagnose here is ball-flight.  With flex too light in your shafts the head will whip uncontrollably through impact and they ball will fly all over the place, with too little flex in your shafts there will be no whip and usually the ball won't fly very high or it will block out to the right (for a right-handed player).
