Well, I know why, but it doesn't help me feel better, & it doesn't improve my life. I'm still sluggish, tired, depressed, with no energy.

  1. I was told Wellbutrin should never be taken at night. Maybe taking it in the morning will help? My doctor said it can keep you awake at night which interrupts sleeping cycles.

Also, anti-depressants are not a cure-all. Are you in therapy? It's important to be in therapy with struggling with depression....medication only helps with the symptoms; not the problems.

Finally, talk with your doctor about what you're experiencing. He/she can try other medications or combinations of medications to see if that would help.

Don't give up, sometimes you really have to try different ones until you find one that is effective for you.

  2. I was on Lexapro and it worked well for me, except for weight gain. Then my medical plan put me on the generic for Lexapro. For some reason it wasn't working for me. I told my doctor I wanted off the Lexapro because of the weight gain and so he put me on Wellbutrin. It is working well for me and I'm losing weight again. I told you this long story to explain that everyone gets different results from these types of meds. You might have to try a different one. Also, if you haven't been on it for at least 6 weeks it may not have kicked in yet. I assume your doctor told you it takes a few weeks to take full effect.

  3. Wellbutrin does not help everyone.  Try different ones.

Force yourself to go out and do something that you like, even though you know there is no point.  Even though you don't want to, even though its not worth the effort.

Depression is not the way it is, or the way its supposed to be.  Its a perspective you get stuck in.  Change your perspective.  Force yourself to break character for a while.  Recognize the behavior pattern when it starts, and do your best to avoid it before it starts.

    And good luck.

  4. You should definitely talk to your doctor about that. Some antidepressants work well for some people but not others. Perhaps you should try another before you give up on them. Also, if you haven't been taking it very long, those types of drugs take a bit to build up in your system before you get the full effect.

  5. This is not the place to ask this question. You need to see a doc, Welbutrin is a powerful drug. See if you are taking the wrong dosage.
