I take clonidine and HCT for hypertension, can these drugs cause severe constipation?

Assuming that you meant HCTZ (hydrachlorothyazide), a diuretic often used for hypertension, it seems pretty unlikely to me, though I am not a doctor or pharmacist.  Diarrhea is actually listed as a side effect of HCTZ on the FDA's official release of drug information (links below), and there is nothing listed as interactions of these drugs.  Clonidine's entrance in the PDR lists constipation as being a side effect for about 1 in 100 people, and it also says that "(m)ost adverse effects are mild and tend to diminish with continued therapy."

    Call your family doctor or call the pharmacy or just stop in to where you got the prescriptions filled.  Pharmacists are really intelligent people and generally love getting to share their expansive knowledge of drugs with people.  Make sure you have an list of all of the medications that you are taking and their dosages.  I am not a doctor and just consider this a preliminary answer.  Follow up, and good luck.
