  1. Part of the test is strange in it asks about your character and how others view you and how you view yourself...answer those truthfully, don't choose the answer you think they want to hear.  Same goes for any police interview too.  Good Luck.

Oh and it's Border Patrol...those are mistakes to avoid.

  2. The best test-taking tips are contained in the Preparation Manual for the U.S. Border Patrol Test

    http://www.cbp.gov/linkhandler/cgov/care...

The length of time to be hired varies depending on how long it takes to complete your background investigation, etc.

  3. Get a good night's sleep before the test, use all of the allotted time for the test, avoid careless mistakes and if asked it's "Border".  They will also perform a credit check on you, if they haven't already.  Best of luck.

  4. Get a study book on police exams. You may not see any of the questions, but there are a lot of helpful hints, and taking the practice tests will prepare you mentally.

The test itself may take two hours or more. If you don't practice, you could be mentally drained before the end, which will affect your concentration, and may lower your score.

    Common suggestions for multiple choice:

-Don't change your answer unless you are positive. First guesses are almost always the most accurate.

-If you don't know the right answer, look to eliminate ones you know are wrong. If you just guess from 4 answers, you have a 25% chance of getting it right. If you can eliminate two of those, you odds go up to 50%.

-Skip questions you are not sure about... there may be a hint in another question further in the test.
