You see the kid talked about nothing (of course). The entire time I was thinking it I thought how much of an @sshole I am for thinkinhg it. Do you think it is wrong for me to think that?

  1. I don't think you're wrong for that.

  2. no

  3. My son is 5 months old and constantly babbling nonsense and I'd coo & gurgle back most of the time. That 3 y.o kid would've made more sense :o)

Then sometimes on a busy day I'd look back & kind of regret the time I 'wasted' talking goo-goo-ga-ga all day instead of doing something more urgent like make dinner or do laundry or finish my work before the deadline... That said, I'm not saying here that I regret spending time w/ my child and would do housework instead, it's just sometimes the sentimental side of me gets a poke from the logical & efficient me when I'm short of time.

So I'd think your reaction is normal, and it doesn't even mean you're "not a kid person". Before I had my son I wasn't into kids myself, I'd avoid shopping on times when families shop to avoid the noisy children, but now I even smile with sympathy to parents whose child is throwing a major tantrum at the mall.

Sometimes you'll even find that talking nonsense w/ kids is the kind of distraction that is more than welcome when you have too much time on your hands or need your mind off other things.

  4. Maybe you are just not a "kid person".  Not everyone is.  But there is reason for everything... it wasnt a waste of time, because you were able to experience for a moment the life of a three year old.  Dont feel bad though, some people just are not kid people...
