  1. l use tissue paper for mine.or get your children to paint on paper....or use potatoes to print with.cut into xmas shapes....

  2. I got all my items to wrap things at the local dollar store.  They often have gift bags, wrapping paper, cellofane bags by the 30 pack and all for $1.

Or you can have the childre take large butcher paper, decorate it and cut it up to wrap the presents in.  This is probably the best route and very cute!

  3. Well since you don't have time, have the kids give it to their parents at pick up.  Yeah it's not Christmas morning, but the kids aren't gonna wait until then anyway.

The gift has everything to do with the child, and nothing to do about Christmas morning--does that make sense?

  4. I found these celephane (not sure how to spell) bags from the dollar store. They were decorated for Christmas and they were really cute.

  5. We use the long white construction paper and dip Christmas cookie cutters in green and red paint and decorate it. If that's not big enough, our local Hallmark store will sell me plain brown bags for 7 cents each and decorate them the same way.  It has to be homemade from this age - it's the process, not the product.

  6. If you still have the time...here's what you do (I own a daycare...licenced for 100 kids)....go pick up cheap (nut free) muffins and sell them for a buck. Then take the $ and buy those craft boxes at the dollar store. Some look like plain brown cardboard and some are already printed/decorated. If they're not decorated then there's your craft for the day for programming. Too little time? Too much work? Simply send a note home requesting shoe boxes and let the kids decorate this keepsake. All parents have at least one shoe/boot box. Ask parents to donate more if they have it to spare for other children that may not have any. Or another alternative is buying cellophane wrap and nice ribbon and it can work too...good luck and happy holidays to you and your students!

  7. Let the kids make wrapping paper by using markers and rubber stamps on easel paper or colored tissue.

  8. I agree with the butcher paper and having them decorate. That's a cute idea.  Or go to the dollar store. Would the items fit in papersacks? You could get the regular lunch sacks and have them decorate those. Lunch sacks at Walmart are pretty inexpensive.

  9. I work at a preschool and meaning it is for the holidays why don't you go to the dollar store and get brown paper bags that the kids project's will fit in. then let them finger paint on the bag with winter colors. make it very winter looking

  10. get a roll of that butcher paper and have the kids decorate it themselves.  You can do the sponge paint thing - give each child a small sponge and have them dab paint on one side of the paper.

Or if painting is too messy, have them draw/color a pattern or scene on the paper.

Cut the paper to the size you want each child to have, and give the children what they need to decorate it with.

Once decorated, wrap the gifts in the paper.

If the gifts are small ones the other option would be to make your own gift bags.

Get plain bags (either white or a solid color) and have the kids decorate them like they would a valentine's day box but with Christmas theme instead - red/green ribbons, glitter, etc.

  11. help the kids wrap the presents, it'll give em confidence and the parents will be all like "awwww how cute, u wrapped a present that u made urself."

  12. go to a dollar store and get some cheap wrapping paper...or if you are looking for wrapping paper somewhere else, look for the rolls that are really long...

or newspapers? that's not very nice looking though...

  13. honestly, you probably don't even have to wrap it for the parents to like it because parents with children this age are usually excited about every little thing their child gives them!

but if you do want to wrap them, you could always let them use green & paint on a BIG white piece of paper and wrap it up in that! suggestion from my headstart teacher friend!

  14. Go to the nearest grocery store and ask for the large brown paper bags, they will give them to your for free.  Then have your students decorate them and stick everything inside.  It's cheap, easy and one more thing for the parents!

  15. When I taught preschool we used to wrap the crafts in colored tissue paper.  You may already have some in the craft supply closet.

  16. I love the butcher paper idea!  Super cute and the kids would really like doing it.

Also, what about the funnies from some newspaper?  The kids would like to look at them as well.

  17. Christmas bags from the dollar store and have the kids make a To: From: tag shaped like a Christmas tree to hang from the handles.
