  1. You can copy clip art out of a mailbox Book, have them paint by using water colors, or glue shapes to paper.

  2. I worked in an infant room at a daycare last year.  Good art projects are finger painting or letting them play with whipped cream on their high chair tray.  There arent a lot of "take home" kind of projects you can do with children that young.  texture table things are good, like water, sand, rice, pasta, etc.  if the parents of the children arent happy because they arent coming home with actual projects, take pictures of the hands on things you do in the classroom. hope that helps!

  3. My 4 yr old LOVES the craft ideas they show on the sprout channel.  They show them in detail on www.sproutonline.com!

  4. Here are a few suggestions:

Tear tissue paper & spray with water

    Handprints, make butterflies, flowers, etc

Cool whip w/ food coloring, paint with

Coffee filters, color & use clothes pin for butterfly

  5. Get your child's foot outline  on a white sheet. Then let the child do finger painting using water colors. You can guide.

  6. I teach a children's class at sunday school and some good ideas are handprints, playdough, there's really not much you can do with a 1 year old but try nature activitys and maybe make a book about them with pics of them or anything to do with animals. finger paint does wonders

  7. I agree with some other answerers... sensory art is great for that age... I love using shaving cream for sensory art, but with that age I agree that cool whip would be great! Lots of fingerpainting and playdough to develop fine motor skills. You could even put a big piece of paper on the floor and let them go at it with fingerpaints or crayons. Gluing things on paper could also be good. Use thick cardstock and let them squeeze some glue on to the paper (hand over hand help them... squeeze and move the glue around). Then give them big buttons or beads or torn peices of paper to put on the glue.

Here are some websites that might have more ideas...

  8. i have worked with ages from 6 weeks all the way thru high school and almost everyone can do "art" but everyone does in to a different extent....

with this age group these are the things i have tried .....some worked to diff degrees than others but all were pretty fun to try....

ice cube painting......painting with water.....very large crayons on large paper on the floor worked best.....markers see prev.....painting on paper using very large brushes......lots of "food" art...cool whip(with and without food coloring---jello works best).....pudding painting....playdough made from edible materials.....and you can then use their art work in shapes and sizes you need to make bulletin boards or parent take home items...(the infant and toddler rooms donated seveal well rec items to the last school i worked withs annual art auction) and as with other ages anything made with the childs hand, foot, or other prints are BIG hits as are things that include their pictures.

and as children get older then you can add other items such as marble(or ball)painting, painting with other items(leaves, tree branches--christmas trees worked for us), smaller brushes, crayons , markers, and more colors

few items you do not ever want to include with children this young--actual clay, powdered paint, permanent markers, ect.

  9. One year old?  They don't want to stupid arts and crafts.  They just want you to play with them.
