‘I think Afridi can still play for Pakistan’, says Misbah-ul-Haq – Cricket News Update
Pakistan’s Skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 to reconsider his desire to retire from the sport.
Speaking to the reporters at the National Stadium Karachi on Thursday, Misbah said, “Look, if you ask me, I think Afridi can still play for Pakistan as he still has some years of international cricket left in him. But what he wants to do is entirely his own decision.”
“I can only advise him to rethink his retirement decision and decide once for all what he wants to do. But I would maintain he still can play international cricket,” the Skipper added.
However, Misbah also comprehended that Captaincy does not matter to him, as long as he gets a chance to play for the national team and that he does not have any personal issues with Afridi.
The Skipper also added that Afridi’s return on the team would not threaten him as it is entirely up to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and its management how they designate Captaincy and who they appoint.
Having been selected as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045, where the tourists marked a clean sweep against the Rhodesians across all formats of the sport.
Initially Misbah was handed over the team’s Captaincy soon after Afridi was asked to step down from the designation following the team’s successful tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
The events infuriated Afridi, who came out loud against the PCB for axing the former Skipper from his post and announced his retirement from cricket. In response, the Board struck back hard and slammed Afridi with charges of misconduct for breaching his terms of contract which was then suspended.
As for now, Afridi’s future with the team still hangs in a balance especially after the President of Pakistan as well as the Chief Patron of PCB, Asif Ali Zardari, ignored to pay heed to the all-rounder’s ongoing conflict with the Board and its infamous Chairman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128.
Misbah, on the other hand, has a tough year ahead of him as he gears up to lead the Men in Green in their upcoming UAE tour, where the side will meet its sub-continent counterpart http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, in October.
