  1. Well he has actually fought decent opposition and I'd say his biggest win so far was his TKO over David Estrada.

He has fought and handily beaten "gatekeeper" type fighters in the Welter division like Estrada and Cosme Rivera.

He's currently ranked #2 by the IBF and #1 by the WBC which means that he should eventually become a mandatory defense for Floyd Mayweather Jr. or if Floyd relinquishes the belt then he would fight for the vacant WBC title.

The Ring Magazine however does not have Berto ranked in the top 10.

That being said I don't see him fighting many more fights before going for the title shot. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if his next fight (or the one after) is for a belt.

  2. Andre Berto looks like a promising young fighter.  His only draw back, is the division he is in, is overflowing with superb fighters.

I think a good opponent for Berto, would have been Judah.  However, Judah is now fighting Shane Mosley.  I feel a Judah fight, would've provided him with a potential impressive knockout victory, that would hoist him into title contention.

As everything stands now in the welterweight division, Berto's best shot at a title is through newly crowned title holder, Carlos Quintana.  I think he is the most beatable opposition out of all the title holders at welterweight.

  3. Ali A has stated it right his biggest win was against David Estrada. I think he is being groomed well and does not need to be rushed. I think he can step up again. I would pit him against someone like Joshua Clottey or maybe Alfonso Gomez which that would be a nice fight for him at 147lbs.

  4. I do agree that he is the best prospect at welterweight, great hand speed, and very good power.  If i were to say i would make his next fight up a level and not the mayweather and cotto level but guys like Luis Collazo, Zab Judah(hes fighting mosley tho), and guys like in the top 20, if he looks impressive against those guys than you get him a top 10 opponenet and it will lead to a title shot.  But i wouldnt rush him, hes only 24 and if he can go step  by step he would keep his confidence up and lead him to the elite of the welterweights.
