Question:

I think I'm a self harmer?

I'm a self harmer (or at least i think i am). What makes me think I'm not is the fact i don't cut with a razor blade. I know it sounds silly, but it makes me feel like i can't even do that right never mind anything else.

I worry that if anyone else sees them, that they'll think I'm pathetic and that my scars/cuts are c**p.

Is that stupid of me? I mean it's not like i should really even care what other people think, i never show them to anybody anyway. But it doesn't stop me worrying about how rubbish they may or may not look to others.

So i just wanted other people to give me their views, on is it normal to think like that? And how do you think they look?

  1. Do you cut yourself because it makes you feel a sense of "release" from whatever is bothering you? More people than you probably know cut themselves. You need to try and find a positive way to communicate your feelings, I understand why you cut yourself, I have been there myself. I have not done it in a long time though. I also had a best friend that did it as well. I was in a really messed up relationship and that is when I started doing it. Of course the cuts look bad, but you don't think about that when you are doing it, you feel guilty after you do them and look at them later. Don't let yourself feel guilty, over them that just compounds the other B.S. you are already feeling. Hopefully it is just a phase for you to get through like it was for me. I also started taking a antidepressant (Lexapro) which has probably helped keep me from feeling the urge to do it again. Just please realize you are not alone, there are others out here you understand and have been there done that, and I hope you can pull out of whatever has brought you to start doing it to begin with.

  2. i recommend you go see your gp. he is the quickest route to you getting the help you need. just explain to him/her your problem, show him/her the scars and the way you are feeling.

chances are that he will refer you to a specialist who can help you.

IGNORE ALL THESE IDIOTS ON HERE SAYING YOUR SICK AND TWISTED ETC.

its not your fault this is happening to you.....there is not a cure as such, but there are people who can help you.

please make the appointment to see your gp today and get on the road to recovery.

    best wishes.

  3. You should not really care how they look.

and i wouldn't care how your scars looked.

    Try and stop cutting yourself.

try to draw scars or put ice cubes on the places were you want to cut your self.

  4. hi , first i want to ask how old you are? not because im some old f**t who dont understand why we do things like hurt ourselves but because i started at age 12 and it progresed very quickly, its the same as any drug, it takes more and more to make you feel the same way.

some get help some people dont and some just work it out on there own. you should care about what other people think because that might help you not want to hurt yourself.

if the initial injury is bad enough the scars my stay there 5 10 or 15 years or may not completly heal at all. some people will feel sorry for you and want to help but wont cause they dont want to understand these things and some people will feel that you are just wanting attention,

so be cautious who you reveal your secret to and make sure they are mature enough to understand.

this is a battle we will fight for a long time, i havent cut in 9 months but my first cut 12 years ago is still there and all the rest, i use them as a tool and a reminder that i dont want to hurt myself anymore, STAY STRONG

  5. people don't understand

but people can cut for different reasons

firstly one cutter could cut for the simple pain of it, another could do it until they see blood another can do it for the depth of it.

So it's not stupid either way but there will be many people that just wouldn't get it..

  6. you are one ****** up individual

  7. tell your counseler

  8. It's on your facebook AND you're asking here so I would say...

    attention seeking is your problem

    EMO-style

  9. no ofense but, if your self harming and your depresed so you self harm,

why are you trying to make them into an "art"

    surely if your tht UPSET

your not arsed whether they look good or not??

you remind me of a little nursery kid, when they get all proud when they fall over.

    Grow up babe :')

  10. You need help.

  11. Stop doing that. You do harm yourself. If you feel like a loser, then quit being one. Decide that you are going to make things better. Every day a little better. The first thing you can try is take up sports. Try jogging, take your ipod and run for half an hour at a pace you can handle. All misery will leave you once you have proven you are in control and you can accomplish things. If you don't like sports, then clean up your house or your room. Put some effort in it and make it super clean. This accomplishment will smile at you the rest of the day. Next define your next challenges. Get a job. Save for a cool car or a guitar. Just keep challenging yourself and you will feel the confidence-o-meter go up and up. Hang in there!

  12. get help, tell someone you know, like a trusted adult! those cuts look serious, you have emotional probs and you need help now. please if not yourself then do it for me, tell your parents/guardians

  13. go get help. And I'll not criticise your cuts, they look pretty gruesome, and its the thought behind them that matters

And as i self harmer that was cured until a few nights ago, i'll tell you thar i use pins and scissors.

And if you do serious harm go to A+E.

    =]

  14. are u serious....

cutting urself will never look good!!!

please seek help, its not something you should be trying to look normal by, but realise instead that cutting urself means something is wrong.

and the answer to ur question is

i think they look terrible and it pains me to see them.

    also i want to add...

if you cut urself to feel better and to slove problems (as u stated later on in additional details) then u are a self harmer. you need to know you have this problem so you can deal with it.

Act now, i really hope you dont do this for more years then you already have.

and another thing, why would you want these people to think your cuts are good, these people have massive problems and need help.

Do you want them to think its good cutting or do you want to listen to people that dont have this very dangerous problem, and realize, hey, maybe i need some help??

please go to a councellor...its better to not live like that. Goodluck.

  15. You are an idiot, there are people out there who self harm because it makes them feel better, not to look cool, and you've just insulted every single one of them.

  16. if you purposely leave a mark that last for and hour or more then it is self harm and by judging your pictures i think you know your a self harmer

  17. I think you should be worrying less about what they look like and more about how you could stop.

And it doesn't matter what you hurt yourself with, if you inflict harm on yourself you are a self harmer (hense the name).

  18. As a former self injurer, I'm here to tell you that a true self injurer does not want to share his or her scars/bruises/whatever to anyone.  Instead he tries to hide it.  It isn't about what others think, its about dealing with pain.  I know you say you do it to deal with emotions and such, but step back and take a look at yourself.  Is that the real reason?

Regardless, either way I do feel your pain and I do understand self injury.  It can be addicting and hard to stop.  You need to seek out some sort of therapy or something.  And I suggest joining a web forum dealing with self injury-- not to show pictures of scars, but to talk to people who have been there.

  19. OH..MY..GOD That looks totally gross

No offence or anything but my first opinion is that its discusting and gross, my mum always taught me to think that self harmers are attention seekers but i dont think so i think you need serious help

In the second picture it looks like you have spread the blood around :o

You are difinatly a self harmer you need help fast!

Go to a doctor or something why would you want to cut yourself i mean the pain alone would be enough to stop me!

    Good Luck x
