I think I'm being fired Monday?

Hey there, well another part to battle against a large Corporation (Priszm Inc. in Canada, YUM in USA - otherwise known as KFC).

Friday when I got to work, I got a phone call from the Area Manager. He told me, HR Department is coming from Toronto to London (where I live), because they want to talk to me about my Human Rights Case, and The Situation At the Store. But, they want to meet with me off of company property.

So when I got home, I called the UFSCW Union Organizer who has been working with me, and my fellow co workers the past couple of week to organize our workplace into a union. She told me the Union will protect me.

Today, I went out and purchased a Digital Recorder. And on Monday, Im going to tell these Head Office people that I will be recording our meeting, and if they say No, then I will tell them, the meeting isn't happening.

I'm scared that I am going to be fired. Because whenever a Manager, or Assistant Manager is being terminated they do it off of company property. Even though I'm not Management, I am in a unique situation because I have a Human Rights Case on-going against my employer.

Im just worried of what to do, because the last time HR Department talked to me was about 4 weeks ago, when they told me they are getting their lawyers after me because I won't tell them what Medications I take, or give them permission to talk with my Psychiatrist.

I also think they want to do this off of company property because, how they told me in early June, that because I take my medication while at work, they said I'm putting my co workers in a dangerous situation.

The medications I take are for ADHD, Daytime Anxiety, and Nocturnal Anxiety/Panic Attacks.

Where is the Justice?

  1. Listen I don't know much about your situation but I do believe you have to  tell your employers of any medical or phycalocical problems you have.  I am sure it is the law.   I am not saying you are wrong but they have the right to know, just to be sure no one is in danger...

Secondly don't tell them you are recording it as long as one side of the conversation knows they are being recorded (you) it is perfectly legal.  I have personally done this myself and used it in court and won...

Of course maybe the laws there are diiferent from here in the usa

  2. Well you have your union rep. on your side and surely the company HR reps will not be so dumb as to fire someone who has filed a human rights complaint.

    Do not worry.

If taking your meds at work is endangering your co-workers, then they have to prove this in court.

But  now that you have told everyone on yahoo what meds. you are taking they can probably use it against you.

Thank goodness you are fighting this up here in Canada where the labor laws protect employees.

  3. I want to know a little bit more detail here; why do you have a Human Rights Case against them?

Edit it in the question with "add detail"

  4. You have the right idea, about using a recorder. I don't know about how the laws are in London, but I know here in the US, they have to allow the use of it.

And about your choice to not disclose your medical history, I think that's a very smart choice. Your employers should not be allowed to discriminate against you because of medical treatments that you are under. As long as you have not posed any threats towards your fellow co-workers.

I wish you luck with all that.
