Question:

I think I'm close to being in the "friend zone". How do I avoid it?

I am a 20 year old male who has very little experience with girls on a "relationship" level. I always seem to be placed into the friend zone. Girls that I like I always am scared to lose them as friends, so it takes a lot for me to ask a girl out.

The girl who I like now is a couple years younger than me, and is great. We never have to force conversation, and we talk about anything and everything (including personal, relationship things).

I really like her and while I love being good friends with her, I can't keep my feelings for her from popping into my head.

How and what should I do?

  1. My brother was always "the friend".  He used to say that being "the friend" is a sandy ditch in which it was impossible to crawl out of.  Tell her how you feel.  You'll always wonder what would've happend.  At least, if you tell her how you feel, you have a shot.  Could you really stand continuing to be her friend, having the feelings that you do for her, and watching her date other guys.  You'll drive yourself crazy that way.

  2. I can't speak for every girl but I'll speak for myself:

Here is the stuff that lands guys in the friend zone

    #1 If he lacks confidence.

    #2 If he's got a hairy neck

#3 If he's a universal flirt. I may enjoy his attention but I don't feel flattered or want to go out with him. I can just picture it sometimes "You may pick a number, wait your turn and then kiss the groom."

#4 If he has unresolved addictions

#5 If I think I'm smarter then him

  3. don't just be a friend

  4. this is like the same scenario as the movie just friends... tell her how u feel know!!
