Question:

I think I've found a lump in my breast?

My question is what could it be?

I'll start with the facts, my son was born almost 7months ago and I didn't breast feed at all. I check my b***s every so often and hadn't noticed until now, I normally check in several position standing/laying etc. Under my right breast there is a small lump, very round like a hard ball, underneath the ball is another lump more ob-lone shaped to the feel (Remember i can't see them). They are very close together and a little uncomfortable to touch than the rest of my breast.

Is it possible that it is crystallised milk or cysts? or am i in for a scare?

ALL help and advice welcome.

I will be ringing the doc today but im afraid of looking stupid.

  1. What ever it is please go and see your doctor if not just to put your mind at ease

  2. You need to let your Dr have a look, the majority of the time they are harmless cysts, but you still must get this checked out.

  3. There are several options, often minor so don't panic. Your GP will usually refer you to the nearest breast clinic (probably in your local hospital). The timescale if they decide it's needed is quite quick; I was seen in less than a fortnight.

Normal tests are an ultrasound, sometimes a mammogram (depending on your age) and a fine needle aspiration to attempt to draw off any fluid.

One of my problems was an oblong lump like the one you describe, it was harmless but they removed it anyway.

Don't be afraid of looking foolish- better to be cautious on this one.

  4. why are you calling your self stupid? are you stupid? i hope that the answer is no!! their is nothing bad go get your brest and everything check and don't let no one make you feel this way no one not your husband, boyfriend what ever keep your head up girl!

  5. Get yourself checked it sounds cancerish. Sorry to inform you. Good Luck!!!

  6. the best thing to do is too see a doctor

  7. It is best to get it checked out and then solve the problem with your doctor.. And don't feel stupid going to your doctor they are there for us to help us and solve medical mysteries and dont leave it any longer to see the doctor the quicker you go the better anything is as i have known from the past  Best of luck and let us know how you get on Cassie..never worry about anything...Xx

  8. Why should you look stupid for contacting your doctor - that is what they are paid for.

Go and get it checked - it could be any number ofthings but in cases like this - PLAY SAFE and get it checked.

  9. The doctor would never think you are stupid, probably the opposite, a lot of women would leave it a while to see if it went on it's own. It's probably nothing serious, but always best to get it checked out.

Edit* expecting....Well aren't you a ray of bloody sunshine, what an awful thing to say...

Good luck Cassie...let us know how you get on x

  10. DO not be afraid to see your Dr love, any lump however  small or inferior it may seem has the potential to be something 'not nice' , I am pleased you are making the appt today , let's hope it turns out to be nothing, but you are 100% NOT wasting a  Drs time , this is what a Dr is paid for! Saving lives and rectifying ailments. I wish you well. It could well be  cysts but dont start making guesses on web as you could just end up with contrasting advice or scare yourself. There are some immature people who know nothing.

You are 18 and have had  a baby and it is maybe hormones some women suffer 'lumpy b***s' called a fibroadenoma. It's harmless and definitely not cancer. It just means that there's been some extra growth in some of the breast tissue. A fibroadenoma tends to feel smooth and slippery, like a marble, and may move around under the skin when you touch it. Some fibroadenomas are several small lumps stuck together.

Just to confuse things, there's a third type of harmless breast lump which sounds like a cross between a fibroadenoma and a cyst. It's called fibrocystic disease or 'lumpy b*****s'. About half of women notice that their b*****s feel lumpy at different times in their menstrual cycle. They may also get tender and painful. Like cysts and fibroadenomas, lumpy b*****s are harmless, but if you're worried about them, or you notice any other changes, your doctor can help you.

A cancerous lump tends not to be smooth and mobile like a fibroadenoma or fluid filled and painful like a cyst. Instead, it often feels hard, uneven and fixed.

Glad you are seeing Dr, to put your mind at rest.

    big hugs x

  11. The majority of lumps do turn out to be benign and breast cancer is extremely rare, but not unknown in your age group. There is also a significant link to lumpiness and recent childbirth.

You need it to be checked, and maybe even referred to a breast specialist in hospital. It is impossible and inappropriate to advice you that thing s are definitely OK, but the odds are massively in your favour.
