I think I am being cheated by employer?

I work on commission with a draw set up. If I do not make enough commission for the week, I am given the minimum wage. The deal is, they force us to close sometimes 4 nights a week, and I then work 4 hours without a customer(an hour a night), because of that, I then owe the company for the hours I worked because it eats away at my commission. I am basically paying back the retail company to help them clean up the store. Whenever I close a lot in a week, I almost always owe them money from mey draw. It just doesnt seem like it is a fair practice. If I am soly commission, and I owe them when I do not make money, how can they force me to work when there are no opportunity to make money? Is there anyone I can contact? I tried the better business bureau, but it seems only for customer complaints.

  1. They can't do that. YOU are working for them. They can't make you pay for hours your work. WTF. What company are you working for?

How much money do u owe btw?

Well if I was in your position i would not pay them a penny and just quit. They made you close for four night out of a week. YOU didn't do anything wrong. You just did what they told you.

  2. There is nothing you can do really because no one is forcing you to work there.  If you don't like their pay structure you should get a different job.

  3. You are being paid for the hours youre there.  Yeah, its a low thing for them to do, but the only thing you can really do is quit.   Just because you are on commission does not bind them to provide you sales opportunities.   Maybe you might rethink the commissioned sales gig.
