As I say, I think I am related (albeit distantly) to the Bowes-Lyon family. Is there a particular authority, operated by the Crown or otherwise, that deals with this situation? Basically, I just need to confirm this part of my genealogy.

  1. Go onto the website of the Monarchy.

    http://www.royal.gov.uk/

  2. you can trace your ancestry by going to England, and look up the records in the church parish there, or you can try on line, there are a lot of genealogical services available. It won't make any material difference to you, most of us are related to some noble house or other, illegitimately or not.

  3. Try the College of Arms in London...

    they will help you.

  4. who is the Bowes-Lyon Family anyway,  i think you should go and knock in their door,  maybe they have a crown left for you, hurry up...don't waste a second..... go go go

  5. Since you did not state what specific relationship you have with this family, it is not clear how close you are to the families. There must be hundreds related to the family (maternal grandfather of the Queen). You can go to your nearest big city library and check out "Burke's Peerage",  a huge volume which will list members of the nobility who trace their lineage to that family. After that, you would have to check out exact relationship with a genealogist to determine how close your relationship with Her Royal Majesty. Good luck !

  6. You certainly spell and punctuate like a royal- that's the first step!
