Question:

I think I gave my info to a job scam. Is that dangerous?

I saw a job ad posted on Craigslist that was ambiguous and didn't have a lot of detail, but sounded interesting. I sent them my resume which has my address, phone number and email on it. Then they sent me more info on the job and now I think it's probably a scam. Should I be worried that they have that info or is basically harmless as long as I don't give them anymore? (I won't)

  1. If the think it's a scam, put on fraud alert through Trans Union Fraud  Dept. Their toll free # 1-800-680-7289. They will notify the other 2 bureaus. It has to be renewed every 90 days to keep it active.

  2. I think they really cant do anything with your email, address and your phone number unless send you a big stack of cash. No it will not harm you

  3. Be careful when you apply for jobs especially

ones you aren't familiar with. Like the first

person said, hopefully you didn't give them

your SIN number otherwise it could result

    in identity theft.

  4. Don't give em your social insurance number. Anyone can find anybody's name, phone number and address. If it was that easy to commit fraud than we'd be losing much more than a couple billion a year.

  6. Just don't give them anymore info.  If you feel it's a scam report them, and report it to craigslist.  You can use this site for more help.

FYI: If your applying for jobs on the internet, especially if your not sure who the employer really is, you can remove your address, it doesn't have to be on there for them to contact you if they are a legit company.
