Ok, when I was 3months pregnant I was showering and saw a few skin color warts down there. First off I was on vacation and freaked. I tried forgetting about it. A week later when I checked again all the bumps were gone! it was like nothing weird ever happen there. I am married now and have a son. Had a vaginal birth too. The man im with I did have tested, so if i did have hpv it was from someone else. I didn't have intercourse at that time. However, when I go for my annual pap, do they check for hpv, or is that all included with the pap, or did i need to ask? I believe a pap would show up if there were abnormalities. But 2 times I've had paps done and they didn't mention that. please some helpful advice?? and would i have passed this to my son when i gave birth??? I'm so friggin scared.i'm only 21 and wasnt even sexually active until 19. It only friggin took one guy to s***w things up, but its my fault too.

  1. When they do your pap they will either call you or write a letter if something is wrong if you don't hear anything then your perfectly fine. I know when I did my pap they sent me a letter and told me to come to the office and have another pap done so I did and then they did a biopsay to see about the lesions on my gentiles. Come to find out it was HPV the start of it. If you have or are a high risk for HPV they will give you 3 shots on gardisal. They hurt but you kind of deal with it because its your life they are talking about

  2. You will be okay.  I have HPV.  Statistically 1/2 of people who have more than one partner carry the virus.  There are also many different strands of this virus.  It is also split into two groups.  One causes cervical cancer while the other causes warts.  You can have both.  When you go in for a pap smear and they say it came back positive means you are hpv positive.  The part that I am not sure of is whether the pap smear tests for all strands or just the ones that cause cervical cancer.  I do know however that most of the time it will clear up on its own.  Yes warts are embarrasing but when you are pregnant your immune system is lower and it gives you a greater risk of infection. Most of the time it will clear up after you have a had your baby.  Don't be scared.  Also, if you have the strand that causes cervical cancer then your partner will most likely be ok.  Cancer is very rare for them.  Just remember that you are at risk and need to be checked once a year.  I think you should go in and explain all of this to your doctor and get a pap smear.  My doctor explained all of this stuff to me and honestly if you have an STD then be thankful it isn't something worse like HIV.  That's how I got over the fact that I have hpv. Also remember that it is extremely common.

  3. You could if you had an outbreak when you had your baby but am sure the nurses would of seen it and would of wanted a c-section but since thats not the case do not worry and there are no tests HPV tests for males

  4. It sounds like you have had only one outbreak, this could have been your initial outbreak and you have cleared the virus. However, the virus can also be dormant and may appear during different times in your life. Fortunately, the same strains of HPV that causes genital warts are much less likely to cause cervical cancer.

Annual Paps - typically HPV testing is not given for women under age 30/35, that is because HPV is very prevalent among young women and you will get many positive results. A majority of these women will clear the virus so when you are tested at age 30, if you continue to be positive, then you are considered at high risk for cervical cancer. Saying that, you can always ask your Ob/gyn for the test, it can be combined with the PAP smear. You sound like you are getting regular Pap smears, which is the best thing you can do for yourself. This test is very good at detecting abnormal cells (even before if becomes "cancer"), so you should relax, you are pretty much doing everything right.

  5. Genital warts can be an indication of "low-risk" HPV.  This type does not show up during your routine pap - and is not cancer-causing.  Although HPV is commonly passed on thru sexual intercourse it can also be passed on via skin to skin contact - such as from hands.

Pregnant women can develop genital warts due to changes in their immune system - and they are unlikely to be HPV related.  In most cases - when a woman gives birth vaginally - the child does not experience any HPV related complications.

  6. The bad news is girls don't do well with HPV and yes a pap will tell you if you have this STD.   Also, you could have caught this a long time ago before having children.  HPV can stay dormant in your system for years before showing any signs.  Your boyfriends could of carried this with showing no symptoms.  They are not curable.  The good thing is they are a whole heck better than having Herpies..

  7. yes it would show up as an abnormality but if u do have it u could treat it depends what stage its in my getting ur cervixs scraped

but u will always carry the virus

a guy can be a carrier and not know it there are no symptoms, and no way to test if he does

so were basically screwed-and u can never know who u got it from if u had s*x with multiple guys the bumps couldnt show up for months

  8. it really matters what kind of HPV  you have... and yes when you get your pap done they will be able to tell if you have hpv... but every time i go to my docs i tell them i want tested for every single thing.. i even get the hiv test done... i have been with the same man for 5 years... and im faithful and love my man.. but on the other hand you never ever ever know... i like to be on the safe side. i have HPV.. and was diagnosed with it at 16... but i have the kind that causes cancer and not warts.. every 5 to 6 monthes i go and they do a colposcopy and see if i have abnormal cells on my cervix... if i do they will take a biopsy to see if they are cancercous... i dont want cancer.. but i really really would hate to have warts... you can spread genital warts to your baby by vaginal birth also. go to your docs and tell him this exact story.
