Okay well i'm pretty sure that i have a UTI (im 14). I can't go to the doctors about it because I have to go with my mum. I can't talk to her about it because we CAN'T talk about that kind of stuff, and I can't just tell her I feel sick because I've recently been to the doctors about something else and they did tests and found nothing wrong with me. So i can't go to the doctors, it's not an option. I have school tomorrow and I really don't want this feeling all day, I hate it so much. What can I do to at least reduce the burning feeling?

Any help would be soo appreciated!

  1. I am supposing that by the time I write this .....you will be in so much pain you would have told your mother about this, AND seen a doctor.

For a 14 year old...I am surprised you know the term UTI....usually it is used by medical personel.

Any way...drink cranberry juice..& WATER.(tons of it), there are over the counter meds like URISTAT for the burning, BUT...if you truly have a Urinary Tract Infection you will need Bactim DS(an antibiotic) too.

You can get to the point where you acnnot pee AT ALL...then you will be in excruciating pain and your bladder will rupture. You could also end up with pyelonephritis(kidney infection).

Also don't hold in your pee(like at school, or during work ot play) that can be a cause of freq. UTIs....nurses get UTI's because sometimes during our shifts we are to busy to stop to pee.

Tell you mother and go to the doctor.....don't be foolish.

  2. if you can before you head off to school go to the store and buy some cranberry juice this help cleanse and clear the bacteria out of your urinary tract this should help until you get to the doctors

  3. You HAVE TO tell your mom. Left untreated the infection will spread up into your kidneys. You need antibiotics. I don't think you want to be on dialysis down the road. You are her pride and joy and she does not want you sick. Trust in that and tell your mom.

  4. Drink LOTS of Cranberry Juice

    Drink LOTS of Water

Cranberry Juice is known to get rid of infections, it has worked for me many many times when I could not afford to go to the doctor. You can also buy cranberry pills, but due to your age, I don't suggest that unless you speak with your mom.

The water will help to clear out the infection, but you need to drink a lot. I suggest drinking one glass of juice and then one glass of water and continue throughout the day.

If this does not get rid of your infection you HAVE to go to a doctor because this can turn into a full blown kidney infection and you will become very very ill.

Nothing over the counter really gets rid of the pain and the need to pee, your bladder is contracting because it is trying to get rid of the infection. Taking some advil or Tylenol might help a little.

  5. From the point of view of a 36 year old g*y guy who had to deal with one or two slightly embarrassing doctor's appointments when I was in High School (and at the time, keeping the finer details of my life from my parents)... I know how hard it can be to broach "below the waist" issues with your parents. I truly feel for you.

To deal with it? You've not explained how severe the infection is, or whether or not you are sexually active, which leaves a pretty broad field of potential problems that could be causing your discomfort. So I'll cover the range, and hope not to offend. In reading your question, I get the impression that you are a together and intelligent girl, so I imagine this will all be OK. And in  advance, sorry if I DO overstep.

First up. Think about what could have caused it. It may just be something as simple as a reaction to new laundry soap (which can cause NSU - Non-Specific Urethritis - in both boys and girls). Or, if you are sexually active, it may a more bothersome STI. I know... not quite the right place, but bacteria are sadly quite indiscriminate, and most of the usual suspects -  Chlamydia and friends - can end up where they shouldn't really be.

In the short term? DRINK CRANBERRY JUICE. Soon as you can, and get the good, high cranberry content stuff: costs a bit, but VERY effective, tastes nice, and needs no prescription. Why does it work? There is an enzyme in cranberries that breaks the anchors that hold bacterial infections onto the urethral wall. As you pee the juice out, it strips the infection away with it. Even if it does end up that you need to see a doctor, it will make a great start on reducing the infection and discomfort... and if the infection is just a mild NSU/UTI, this may be ALL you have to do.

But if it's quite intense, and persists, it's very important to know what the infection is. Regardless of cause, persistent bacterial infections need antibiotics if they're to get better fast and be entirely wiped out. Delaying a visit to a doctor will only worsen matters. So...

Have you a close family friend, maybe a little older? A cool aunt, an older cousin, or even a trusted female teacher that you can approach? It's not absolutely necessary for you to see your family doctor, if you are uncomfortable with that idea. It *may* mean a little cost, but if you explain the situation, most doctors are in the profession for the *right* reason, and will put patient before paycheck. I had circumstances where doctors actually *waived* the consultation fee for me, once I explained I was in Year 10 at school, not working, and not able to go with my parents.

Failing that? You could go it alone: many local area health services provide a free, (and in many cases, anonymous if you wish) Sexual Health Clinic... if you find one in your area, explain that you are 14 and have discomfort down below, without going into detail... they may be able to help out. Play dumb. Even if they point out after the check-up that it's just a UTI, I'm sure they'll still provide the necessary prescription: they certainly won't leave you to suffer.

Hope this all helps. All the best.  :)

  6. You HAVE to go to the doctors.  If you leave it, not only will you have horrible symptoms, but left unchecked it could lead to a kidney infection.  Your mum will understand. At the pharmacy you can buy Ural - which dissolves into water and changes the acidity in your bladder.  You could try that first, but you need to see the doctor if it doesn't get better.

  7. Sorry, but the ONLY way to get rid of a UTI is to get a prescription for antibiotics from the doctor.  If you are unwilling to do that, then you could die or get seriously sick from the infection because it will just get worse.  Trust me!  I've had a few UTIs and I've tried everything.  Yes, cranberry juice is great (the less sugar, the better), but it works best at PREVENTING infections, not getting rid of them.

So you've gotta figure out a way to get some antibiotics.  That is the ONLY thing to do.  You definitely don't want it to get worse and turn into a kidney infection where you have to get a catheter (tube stuck up your urethra - where you pee) or something awful and have to deal with a hospital stay.  Get antibiotics ASAP!!

  8. Hey, there! I'm fourteen too and I had a UTI a few months ago. My mother took me to the doctors and they gave me two types of medicine which, within a couple of days, completely cleared up my cystitis and my urinary tract infection. This is something that is extremely painful and could get worse if you don't treat it immediately. You should make an appointment to go to the doctor's yourself and go one day after school. I strongly suggest telling your mother about these problems though; when I told my mother that I had a bladder infection, she told me that she had also had one when she was younger! I hear that cranberry juice reduces the painful burning and stinging but you DO need to go to the doctors! It's the only way you can possibly treat your UTI. Good luck, my friend!

ps. I had to pee constantly, too! I was running to the toilet, literally, every two minutes! Drinking lots of water reduces the pain, I promise!

  9. Drink Cranberry juice and take warm baths.

Cranberry clears the toxins from the body and is recommended to be drank by women as it flushes what's not wanted.

  10. can u list all ur symptoms hun?

drink loads of water and maybe go to the shops and get a urine alkaniser which takes acid out of ur urine and eases the burning feeling and when u need to pee run warm water over that area at same time it helps greatly! i get loads of them but really you need to get it checked out as it can lead to kidney infection and make you really really sick... i know as i have been in that situation.

    Thanks
