But I have no idea how to play it. Can you send me links of tutorials to teach me how to play it. It is egg shaped, made of clay with a total of 2 thumb holes and six other keys. Help?

  1. Hi

Here is a nice link . The Ocarina is also called 'The Sweet Patato.

  2. It sounds like it might be a peruvian style rather than a sweet potato style. Are all six holes on the top the same size and in two lines of three?

If so here is a chart for the peruvian style http://ocarinaland.googlepages.com/south...

  3. The old clay ocarina had the mouthpiece on the side. With all holes closed you get the lowest note usually do. raising fingers one at a time from right to left you go up the scale do re mi etc. flats were achieved by putting some of the fingers down to the right of the natural fingering. Might take some experimenting.

Be careful to not over blow and you should be able to figure it out.

Thumb holes on some models when uncovered will give you the octave

I wish I had one again. it has been 50 years.
