My little guy is five months old, he was a colicy baby, which was very difficult to cope with having five others as well..School is about to start, I hate my hair, so I am going to get it cut on Saturday, hopefully, that will make a difference..I am going to get some new makeup, always love that..The house is a mess, and I cant seem to get on top of it, and my mind feels like I cannot have a complete thought. I just remembered to take my vitamins which I hope will help..

I just find myself really frustrated with the other kids, the house, the cars(that's another story)...Does anyone know of a good herbal help, anything like that? Thanks

  1. get ou of the house asmuch as possible, start tking long walks with the baby, make sure you have alone time without the baby. get your hair done and go shopping for some nice new clothes. if it continues and worsens you should see a doctor

  2. Hang in there, it will get better :-)

Are your other children old enough to help out around the house? My brother and I used to clean the kitchen every night so my mom could spend time with dad when he was home. I hope that my kids return the favor one day when I have them :-)

You might try making it fun, like make them a chore chart that they can put stickers on. When I was a kid, I always liked writing down all of the tasks, cutting them out seperately, wadding them up in a bowl and drawing out the tasks one by one, so what I would do next would be a surprise, and there were always the little take a break ones, or get a popcicle ;-)

Good luck! You might try some tea, classical music, and an ipod shuffle. That tends to help me when I get stressed.

  3. My doula suggested evening primrose oil or fish oil pills. I struggle with this as well, I also had a colicy baby.

  4. I know chamomile tea is supposed to soothe and calm but not sure if that's good if you're nursing. Check with your doctor just in case.

If not, you can always spray some lavender on your pillow or cushions and try to take a quick nap when the kids are playing and the baby's napping.

Try taking bubble baths, get the kids a board game and yourself a new book (order from the web if you can't go).

Make a date with your husband or have a pizza night every Friday and just use that time to rest when the kids are busy and the baby's napping.

All the best and good luck.

  5. I don't have any kids, but I know when I feel overwhelmed listening to some quiet music helps. Also, some ice cream wouldn't hurt either. Also, exercising gets your endorphins up so maybe run for a bit? You'll feel accomplished and the fresh air will make a difference. Also, exercising increases your energy level, so maybe the kids won't be weighing you down as much afterwards. Breathing exercises help a lot too- I use those with stage freight and whenever I need to, no pun intended, "take a breather." They are quick fixes and can be done anywhere- Stand or sit in a relaxed position and breathe in through the nose five counts, hold for ten, then exhale through the mouth. Change the counts to whatever feels best. Also, if you are religious or not, reading scripture in the morning or evening will make you feel at peace, comforted, and fulfilled with purpose. I recommend Hebrews 13 or any Psalm. Maybe a devotional like this: http://www.answersingenesis.org/Devotion... could help? Hope any of this helps and makes you feel better! And remember, your babies love you!!
