I think I have seen a alien.Could it be true?

While out with my uncle and his friend we took a quiet path along some farmland to go to the pub.

It was night time so it was pitch black because there were no streetlamps.We then saw a bright light like a ball of electric zoom a100 feet away from us.It stopped in the field.At first we thought it was some sort of lighting but then it shot up in the sky without making a sound.

That's not an alien it's a UFO. unless it was a wee flying alien, or even a migraine.  I have seen trapped balls of lightning, and they are scary and unworldly.  They can travel at great speed and stop suddenly and then just disappear.  Saw another UFO once, there was something in the sky that was so amazing I just stopped in awe and stared at it for an age.  It was so beautiful I swore to myself I would never forget it.  The next day and ever since I have entirely forgotten it, just remember standing looking at the sky like an idiot.  Concluded that there are enough strange people on this planet to worry about visitors from others.  Also they may be so tiny we can't even see them.  Now who believes in fairies...?  I should have been asleep hours ago so am just thinking randomly now.

It sounds like either an "Earth light" or ball lightning.

These phenomena are not fully understood, but lots of people have seen them. Earth lights are supposed to be correlated with seismic activity - i.e. earthquakes.

Ball lightning happens when there are electric charges in the air, usually in hot, humid, overcast conditions.

Why is everything you cannot explain an "alien"? Why blame everything on space people?  Why can't it be "I saw something I cannot explain"?  If that concept is too difficult, how about being different.  Quit following the herd.  Follow a different drummer.  If you absolutely must label unexplained phenomena, the next time you see something strange tell people "I saw a pixie!!"  or "I saw a faerie on a flying seahorse!!"  Be creative.  People will still think you are loony, but they will appreciate your creativity and admire you for it.

Extremely unlikely. If there were aliens near our planet, it would be quite easy to see them. We wouldn't just have random sightings in the dark through trees. It is most likely that you saw either an Iridium satellite or some ball lightning.

well their are many explanations to this i would have believed you if you hadn't mentioned a ball a electric below is a full detailed explanation from wikipedia not to brag but i already knew it just couldnt explain it
