I think I just got snookered?

Question

I was in a night club partying. When this one pool player that played really well came in . Then an other guy came in and started to play pool. He looked like he couldnt play that well. The two guys started to play for money. The good pool player lost all his money to the bad pool player. The good pool player then asked me to back him for half the winning because ,he said he knew he could beat him.So I backed him till he ended up losing $1000 dollars of my money. Then both of the pool players stagered out of the bar. Two hours later on my way home I saw them in a parking lot laughing and horseing around. Do you think I was snookered.

Oh absolutely. My Dad was national billiard champ for two years running in the 60's. He played exhibition against Fats and Mosconi but lost by the eight ball as they were the greats at the time. Story: I was in a little pub one night playing pool for fun with friends. I've held a pool stick since I was three and went with Dad to MANY competitions. Well, suddenly the pub door opens and this guy walks in dressed like Johnny Cash. But he had a Billy Jack hat on. I saw the pool stick bag. He put his quarters on the table. He made a HUGE production of unzipping his bag and whipping out his custom stick. Then he began to twirl it like a baton. We ignored him. We were going to let him play alone but I told my friend's husband let's trash this jerk. So we put my friends wife with Billy Jack. I said let's up the wager. He said how much. I said whoever wins five in a row gets $500. He was all over that one. We smoked him five times so he was forced to pay $500. He went crazy and the bouncers removed him. So you got scammed. We did this to Billy Jack due to the attitude. My friend's wife played fair, too. And so did we. If anyone ever looks too good or awful at the game, tell them no wager and forget it. I am sorry that happened to you. My Dad was honest, fair and didn't play games. One night a guy said he cheated and HOW can you cheat in a room full of people watching? My Dad doesn't have to cheat. He's older now and can smoke me over and over again. I take it like a champ. Be careful!

OK; Hustling 101: DUDE, you deserved it. You are making it sound like you didn't know these guy from Adam. But something is telling me you did know one of them. Sounds like the one that was loosing. You are just too ashamed to say you know him. Well, if you didn't? WHAT EVER POSSESSED YOU TO RUST A STRANGER IN TO GIVING MONEY AWAY? HEY WHILE YOUR AT IT COULD YOU GIVE ME A MILLION FOR A SLOT????

Sorry guy but you got hustled, flimflammed, bamboozled, horn swagged, and just plain SUCKERED. NO SNOOKER INVOLVED.  I was taught by the best pool players in Arkansas and the southern district for many of years and that was one of the first things that he taught me.

Never and I mean never loan any money to anyone for any wager on billiards.

Never tip your hand early.

Never underestimate anyone.

I have ticked a lot of players off when they start that c**p playing and acting like their trying. Once they do that I never put any effort into it. Then I look them in the eyes and tell them to quit playing around if they want me to be serious with them. Then they realize that I know who they are.

You weren't snookered . You were hustled. That is one of the oldest cons in the book. Not much you can do about it. Just take it as a lesson learned and never bet on pool games again.

Sounds like you need to make better decisions with your money.  It's probably not a good idea to give out money to strangers when you've been drinking...

"SNOOKERED" MEANS THAT YOU'VE BEEN BEATEN  OR  THAT YOU CANT PLAY ANYMORE IN WHAT EVER IT WAS THAT YOU WERE / ARE DOING.........BUT........."SNOCKERED"

MEANS THAT YOU'RE DRUNK....OR WERE.....DRUNK....LOL
