I think I might have an odd mental disorder. Does anyone know what it may be?

I always feel like someone (or many people) are watching me. It happens especially after I watch movies or shows. When I go about the rest of my day, I feel like the characters or actors of the movie/show are watching me. It's not creepy, just annoying. I feel like I can't be weird or crazy around the house. I'm always self conscious. I know I sound crazy, but I would like to know what it is. Can anyone help me?

  1. Don't worry. Being self conscious is not really a bad thing. It may be a bit annoying, but its not really that serious. Well, it might be, but in your case, it does not sound like it. Anyways, just talk to one of your friends about it. Friends can help a lot.

  2. What you're describing is paranoia. And most likely, it will continue to get stronger as you age.

Have you considered talking to a therapist?

  3. The brain will concentrate on what you tell it to. If you concentrate on fearing others are watching you, your brain will think this is more important than others things in your life. This can lead to obsessive compulsive disorder where your fear grows and you start doing things to lessen the fear which debilitate your life, like not going out. Logically, you know no one is watching you and that the movies are triggering your fears. Change what kind of movies you watch, get fun hobbies and friends and live a balanced life. When negative thoughts cross your mind, ignore them and think about something constructive or fun. You will find the habit of fear will gradually go away.

  4. It sound like a mild form of paranoia, which is a general anxiety disorder.  You might want to see a psychatrist and get an opinion about whether or not anti-anxiety medication would be helpful.
