I had pneumonia earlier this year and my doctor gave me antibiotics and told me to take an expectorant (mucinex). well now i think i have it again (it started out the same way as last time, it was a sore throat that seemed to move down my chest. now i am coughing up mucous and having slightly labored breathing.), Should I take mucinex before I go to bed? Is it bad to take that if I'm not positive that it's pneumonia? I'll probably go to the doctor within the week if it doesn't go away by tomorrow, but I was just wondering if it's okay.Last time when I was taking the antibiotics and mucinex i also used my albuterol inhaler (I have mild asthma) and it made my heart go really really fast. I was gonna try using my inhaler before I take mucinex just to see if it's the asthma that's making my breathing difficult.. but I don't want it to make my heart race. Ugh I hate being sick..

  1. I am a CCMA

Not unless a doctor says so because you can make matters worse and actually choke on the phlegm Please WAIT and see the doctor,,

If your breathing gets worse I suggest that you go to the ER
