I think I need help to help my cat wean her kitten?

My cat had four kittens and 3 died, her 1 surviving kitten is 4 months old and still feeds from the mother, When given kitten food, she eats a little then plays with it and tries to bury it like its poo. I have tried keeping mum out all night and as much as I can during the day hoping the kitten will get hungry and eat some food, he hisses at the water bowl.. and I think he is losing weight.. otherwise he is very health and very playful. any ideas.!! mum hates being left outside cos she has always been able to come and go, but the minute she comes in, the kitten literary follows mum around trying to latch on to the nipple and mum lets him. Mum had the kittens by cesearean and i think if all 4 kittens had survived maybe mum would be different, is she making up.? surely 4 months old 5 months in a a couple of weeks time and soon to be spayed is too old to be sucking..or am I humanifying this relationship.Just really doesnt look normal. Help.. :-)

I had mother and kitten, it will just happen don't worry. They will have a very close bond.

I would consult your vet. I am no expert. I am fostering kittend for a shelter ( I have had them since 2 weeks) Amd now they are all 8 weeks old (their5 of them) Thet were all completely weaned by 8 weeks old.

We took the mom to the vet, and she was dry on milk. It could be, that since the mom only has one kitten, she has extra milk.

Just talk to your vet, What ever I say, won't help too much!

But, this is what he vet did, you should try too. Squeeze the mom cats nipple, andsee if any milk comes out. If so, talk to your vet. If not, the kitten probably just feels comforted when he does this, and it may start soon.

When I come into the room, sometimes one or 2 kittens with be nursing, even thouggh there is no milk. They all eat kitten food. But, the vet sad they do this for comfort.

try giving her milk ,when she's used to that she should leave mum alone .good luck.

jst a normal kitten dont worry. but she mite have worms if not gaining weight. de-worm her or bring 2 vet PLEASE HELP WIV MY QUESTION EVERYONE thx xxxxxx
