Question:

I think I pushed myself too hard. What is this injury?

I was on my bicycle, running late for an appointment... so I rode really hard for an hour. Now my leg hurts right at the hip, in the front - not the groin. I thought it was something that would go away (the pain has appeared in the past and gone away on its own), but it's persisted for about a week.

What might this be?

  1. Jumping right on your bicycle first thing and pushing hard probably strained your hip flex-er. Which is the flexible muscle in the front of your hip. It was especially prone to being strained if you hadn't warmed it up or stretched it out at all before involving yourself in a vigorous activity. If there is any inflammation use ice to bring it down. Also, keep heat on it and take ibuprofen such as Motrin, Advil, Aleve, etc.

This happened to me recently and there is recurrent pain if you do not warm the muscle up before exercise.

Check with your doctor, too. If a strain is lasting more than a week, it might be a little more serious.

  2. you strained your muslces and streched them to far jus take a warm bath and keep of it as much as you can and it will help
