Question:

I think I started a firestorm, but what to do now?

I live near a big college football stadium. On game days, traffic and parking is a nightmare by my house. I was here long before the stadium. I am now 77 yrs old. I have asked people to at least not block my driveway during games, just in case I need to leave on an emergency. They do it anyway. So last week I put up cones. They moved them, and blocked my driveway. So I went out there and took my keys and carved YOU SUCK in big letters on their hood. They reported it to the cops, I lied and said I didn't see a thing. Now it's all in the newspapers, and they are blaming the other team like it was rivalry or something! What should I do? All I've done so far is sit back and laugh and think "Well, I asked you to stop blocking my driveway." But, should I go admit it?

  1. You got some fire in ya there, don't ya?  LOL

The 'moral' thing to do would be to come clean, at the same time you'd have to prepare yourself for the consequences, such as fines, possible jail time (probably not) and paying for the damage caused.  No doubt you'd have to pay the damages, but the judge may be lenient with you if you state your case and explain the frustration you were under.

I'd probably be tempted to do what you did myself, whether I really would or not, I don't know.

Do you have signs like "Private Drive", "Do Not Block Driveway" or No Trespassing"?  If not, you might want to post some for legal reasons from now on.

Good luck and don't lose that fire in you.  Just try to tame it...hehehe

  2. h**l no do not report it,.....there was a Taxi Cab Company that blocked my driveway where i use to live i went out and pissed in the car seat of the Cab, and on the Microphone for the radio,.....

  3. First of all if you are 77 years old and the only thing you can think of to do is key their car, you've got issues!

Second, if they are blocking your driveway-call the police- it is a safety hazard and is against the law.

  4. I don't know if it's the right thing to do or not, but honestly, I don't think I would admit it.  It will just get you in trouble and they probably can't prove you did it.  I don't blame you for getting so mad, you probably did it out of anger...not the smartest thing to do, but you already know that.  Next time, just call the cops to handle it.  Shhhhhhhhhhh....

  5. It was not the smartest move, but I guess you felt like they were not respecting you or your property, why respect them.  Next time just call the cops and have their car towed.  And do it every time someone chooses to block your driveway.  You might even be able to get a sign that says if the drive is blocked, the car will be towed.

And admit nothing.  Let them steam over the fact that they knew they were doing wrong, and now wrong was done to them.
