Question:

I think I’ve been flashed by a speed camera?

Hi there I was travailing on a dual carriageway when I saw 1 flash coming off the grassy bank; it was not in my rear-view mirror but to my back passenger’s window.

I am 100% sure it was 1 flash as it was very dark and I am sure I would of seen 2 flashes. Well I’ve been a little nervous since then which was 2 weeks ago tomorrow. I would like to know what you guys think of that and could offer me any theories on what it would have been.

Also little note it was raining really bad

  1. you would have had it within 10 days. dont worry must have been lightening

  2. even if it was a speed camera they can't do anything without two flashes and even if you got two flashes there may still have been no film in the camera. Just wait and see.

The flash could have been from headlights and the rain.

  3. It was probably a speed camera but you will find out for sure when the fine comes. Hopefully this won't happen but you still have a good chance of not being fined.

There is a theory that if a camera flashes only once then that means that it is out of film. I don't quite get the logic of this but that is another reason to be hopeful.

  4. Well if it was raining it was probably lightning, but if it was a speeding camera you wasn't speeding so don't worry about it.

  5. because it was one flash i dont think you will get a ticket for it

you only get one if theres 2 flashes.

Also i think you have to get a ticket before 14 days is up so i think your ok.

Im not 100% sure about this so dont get your hopes up.

    Hope everything goes well

  6. They need to send you a letter within 14 days of the offence, but usually its much quicker (I speak from experiance :(  )

So I think you are clear!!

  7. It's mnothing to worry about unless you get a ticket in the mail... You can also purchase a spray and this clear spray puts such a high gloss on your plate that when the flash happens, it washes out the picture and they can't read the plate... I've purchased this stuff and used it... I've ran two red light cameras and no ticket so it must work...

    it's called PHOTOBLOCKER

  8. Maybe if you go a little bit faster next time, the camera won't catch you.

  9. If you  flashed by a speed camera and you were driving to fast or whatever...you would have received a ticket by now.  Relax and use this to help you be a more responsible driver.

  10. In my experience, you get the letter by one week after the offence.Stop sweating.

  11. Were you doing something you shouldn't have been like speeding??  if you were hope you can pay the ticket.

Usually here it takes 7 to 10 business days to get the ticket if you were caught on camera

  12. Really useful forum;

  13. Wait and see if you get a letter with Arrive Alive on the envelope,Dont bother to open it if your not having a good morning.Yep ive had one,Doh.If you dont might have been a U.F.O,hah.

  14. there is always 2 flashes to judge your speed  must be lightning

  15. if you dont get it by two or three weeks, it'll be taken out of the computer, even if you were flashed.

i had the same incident two months ago! i ran a yellow light, and it flashed, and i never got the ticket. and ic alled them and they said, normally after three weeks, they can't send out the tickets, its under their policy

  16. In my experience, the flashing of speed cameras is very noticeable, you can't miss it.

If you are sure it was one flash, then forget it.  Two flashes are required to measure the speed (with a GATSO type camera).

  17. i think you'll be ok...as far as im aware one flash is a warning.  plus i've been flashed once heaps and never heard anything...i've heard rumours that some don't have film in them (or something).  good luck xx

  18. lightening?

were you speeding? if so, then bummer, but just pay the fine!

  19. Last time I flashed on a dual carriageway I got into lots of trouble.

  20. it's your own fault

  21. did you smile?

  22. Awesome...

  23. Doubt you'll get caught. At night they are usually empty (no film). They need to get in touch within 18 days (i think) if theres no word your in the clear. safety cameras my ****

  24. Wow this sounds super creepy!

No joke, do you think someone may be stalking you?

    If not, I'm not sure.

  25. Shouldn't have been speeding then, should you?

  26. 1 flash is a warning, 2 flashes you,re speeding.

not all cameras have film in them but no one except the police know where they are and they change them every so often to keep us on our toes

believe it or not  they still like to think of cameras as a  deterrent instead of as a cash cow.

if you haven,t had a nips (notice of intented prosecution) by now then it looks like ur ok.

it also could be a car going the other way as the beam records any break in it that goes either way through it.  the highest speed of the two

  27. Hopefully you will be fine i had this recently and was worried all the way hope also,my passengers where fed up with me going on.But nothing happened,it may have been a side round at the side of you and a car driving along that or even a reflection from cars on the other lane hitting something your side or even a car in your mirror.

One thing to do is look at a map or on the net where it shows you where the cameras are,and if there isn't one around where you saw the flash at least you may fell a little better.

  28. £60 and 3 points.

  29. it was prolly lightning. O.o

  30. Of course it was lightning  your speed was 45 and you were on Dual carrige way and you had friends in your car and they didnt see any flash and finally it was low single flash so it indicate there was may be something going on in the clouds

  31. if it only flashed once dont worry if it flashed twice not so good
