  1. Here's a chart that shows the odds of what color a baby's eyes will be depending on their parents eye color. As you can see, many times their eyes aren't the same color as either parent.

My parents both had blue eyes. I was born with brown eyes, which changed to green when I was a toddler.

    .

As you can see, if both parents have brown eyes, there's a 75% chance the baby will have brown eyes, and a 12.5% chance they will be green, and a 12.5% chance they'll be blue.

  2. You dont always have the same colour eyes as your parents.  The eye colour can skip generations. Both my parents have blue eyes and I have green eyes.

  3. Yeah, eye color can skip a generation. If your grandparents had or currently have blue eyes then those genes could still remain with your parents.

  4. just ask.... but dont base your whole fears on eye color because that statement about eye color basing off you parents IS NOT true!

  5. They could both just carry the blue recessive gene. Each person actually has two eye colors. One from each of your parents. The dominant one is the one that shows up. The sperm and eggs cells contain half of you genetic info. They can contain either eye color. If both your parents have recessive blue eye color there is a 25% chance that it will be your eye color. Relax. You can ask them if you want, but it doesn't mean anything.

  6. That's not always true.

Did you go through science class in high-school yet? They will teach you all about dominant traits and your odds for receiving what from your parents.

  7. The article you read is incorrect.  Brown eyes are dominant, so BOTH of your parents probably have one gene for brown eyes and one for blue eyes.  This means that since the brown eye gene is the dominant one, they will both have brown eyes.  BUT, if a blue gene and a blue gene end up together, you will have blue eyes.  As I said, since both of your parents each probably have a blue gene, it is very conceivable (no pun intended) that they each contributed a blue eye gene and no brown eye gene, hence you would end up with blue eyes.

If you're still not sure, ask them about it.

  8. Eye color can skip generations.  Don't base whether you're adopted or not on that.

Just ask them, the worst they can do is laugh at you.

  9. Ask them

  10. Not true.

  11. Ask them but don't go on eye color.  I have green eyes and so does my brother but our parents do not. They have blue and my Mom siblings have green and my father's siblings have brown

  12. if 2 blue eyed parents have blue eyes then you must have blue. i didnt know this about other eye colors. very interesting.

  13. Most babies eyes look blue.... at birth, I'm talking about caucasion babies by the way.

They may turn a different color over time.

  14. As noted above, two brown-eyed people can produce a blue-eyed offspring.

Brown is dominant, blue is recessive. Have you taken biology yet? You sound young.

That said, it is entirely possible you might be adopted, some adopters have no scruples.

Do you look like anyone in your family?

Have you asked your mother about your birth story?

Have you ever seen your birth certificate?

Start asking questions if you have real concerns, good luck!

  15. its genetic, but it doesn't always come from your parents. when this happens you are called an offspring you get it from another family member. Sometimes people get really intrested in their heritage and want to find out ALL about their ansestors, so they go to ancestory.com and research--or go to librarys.

its really cool to find out things like that, the process is actually called Geonealogy.

  16. no if you have a grand parent or even a great grand parent with blue you can have blue genes  are a funny thing

  17. 2 brown eyed parents can have a blue eyed child if both parents carry a recessive gene for blue eyes.

  18. I have brown eyes, my husband has blue eyes, and our daughter has green eyes.  And she is not adopted.

You DO have genes from your ancestors besides your parents.

LOL.. I'm sure you're not adopted.

  19. Hi Chloe,

I hope this will help explain how eye color genetics works:

    - Brown eyes are a dominant gene color.

    - Blue eyes are a recessive gene color.

2 Brown eyed parents - They can produce a blue eyed child IF they also have recessive genes somewhere else in their family for the blue eyes.  If not, then they will always have brown eyed children.

2 Blue eyed parents - They can NEVER produce a brown eyed child regardless of whether they have other brown eyed family members because 2 recessive genes can never make a dominant color.  2 Blue eyed parents can only have blue eyed children or other recessive eye colors.

1 Brown eyed parent + 1 Blue eyed parent - Here we have one dominant & one recessive gene eye colors.  The brown will dominate the eye color in about 75% of the children they  have together.

That does not necessarily mean you were not adopted.  It just means you would need more than eye color alone in your case to come to that conclusion.  I hope you find all the answers you need.

  20. I am the same, both parents with brown, I have green, and my bro has blue. We are definatly not adopted.

  21. maybe you born with contact lenses.

  22. Have you seen your birth certificate?  Does it have any notations that it was modified/revised????

  23. Try this:

  24. That's absolutely not true.  You have the same BLOOD TYPE as one of your parents, but eye color is genetic.  Both your parents could have brown eyes, but both would carry the gene for blue eyes in order for you to have blue eyes.
