I was in a similiar situation. I bought a bike in GA. I put insurance on the bike and paid taxes on it. Only when I finally took it to the DMV in SC and found out it was stolen based on the VIN on the GA title. The person I bought it from managed to get it titled in GA without a problem and lied to me about the origins of the bike. I reported it to the police and the bike was seized. The guy in GA just claimed he didn't know. I lost my money. Honestly, the police don't care unless you go out of your way to point it out to them. You're not going to jail. Since you managed to register it legally, don't worry about it, though you will never be able to sell it (unless you manage to s***w someone else over). http://www.stolenmotorcyclehelp.com
