  1. Yes, you should tell your mom about this.   It's not really a big deal and certainly no cause for major alarm.  Your mom will know all about what needs to be done.  Starting with a trip to the pharmacy to get the pinworm medication you will need to take.  You might really want to rethink the chewing habit here.  You get pinworms by ingesting the eggs to start with- you got them from somebody who wiped their hind end and didn't wash their hands well.  The eggs hatch, and exit your bottom at night to lay their eggs.  You scratch your own hind end, and transfer the eggs to under your nails or other objects- which you put in your mouth and renew the circle all over again.  For now, I suggest telling your mom.  Then clip your nails short, and sleep with some undies on for tonight.  Tomorrow you will want to start work on the chewing habit, unless you'd like to do this again.  I should think the idea of what you could be putting in your mouth tonight would be adequate reason to discourage you from doing it.  But when your mom goes to the pharmacy, there is usually a medication called Thumb-Stop that will help with that as well.

  2. You need to ask your mum, as the whole of the family can be infected. The pin worm parasite is not dangerous and can be erradicated with over the counter drugs, there are two tablets which you take over a certain amount of time and the pin worms are gone. It can be carried by scratching (under your fingernails) etc., so everytime you go to the toilet you must wash your hands thoroughly. Here are some tips:

Bathe when you wake up to help reduce the egg contamination.

Change and wash your underwear each day. Frequent changing of night clothes are recommended.

Change underwear, night clothes, and sheets after each treatment. Because the eggs are sensitive to sunlight, open blinds or curtains in bedrooms during the day.

Personal hygiene should include washing hands after going to the toilet, before eating and after changing diapers.

    Trim fingernails short.

Discourage nail-biting and scratching bare anal areas. These practices help reduce the risk of continuous self reinfection
