  1. Here's something cut/pasted, but I would like to know why you think you have OCD.

    Obsessions

Recurrent and persistent thoughts, impulses, or images that are experienced as intrusive and inappropriate and that cause marked anxiety or distress.

The thoughts, impulses, or images are not simply excessive worries about real-life problems.

The person attempts to ignore or suppress such thoughts, impulses, or images, or to neutralize them with some other thought or action.

The person recognizes that the obsessional thoughts, impulses, or images are a product of his or her own mind, and are not based in reality.

    Compulsions

Repetitive behaviours or mental acts that the person feels driven to perform in response to an obsession, or according to rules that must be applied rigidly.

The behaviours or mental acts are aimed at preventing or reducing distress or preventing some dreaded event or situation; however, these behaviours or mental acts are not actually connected to the issue, or they are excessive.

  2. If you believe you have OCD seek out a clinical diagonsis by seeing a mental health professional.  OCD is very treatable with medication and talk therapy so don't be afraid.

In general, if you have obessive thoughts and only can get past them by a ritualistic compulsion and these thoughts cause you anxiety then you might have OCD. The obessions and compulsions can come in many forms, far to many to list here.

Long before OCD was generally known by the public I saw weird symptoms in my girlfriend.  After seeing a researcher talk about OCD and reading her book I realized my girlfiend had the condition. I got her to seek help and she has been in treatment ever since and we have been married almost 18 years.

  4. Ocd does come in many forms and if untreated can lead to other forms of ocd ... not everyone is by the book; so to speak...

For example... if ur thing was washing - it might  go to checking - or can go to eating - ...

An experienced professional who specializes in Ocd can help or someone who has it can understand it best.

U can email me anyime ...=)

  5. I have OCD, but in reality, EVERYONE has a little bit of OCD in them. Whether it is checking more than once to see if you turned off the coffee pot, or washing your hands compulsively because you are scared of germs, everyone has little rituals that are OCD-like. Unless it is interfering with your every day life, don't worry about it. You usually get diagnosed by a doctor.
