so i got a tongue piercing, but its deff diff, its the very tip of my tongue i mean the small tip at the very front of my tongue, its a horizontal bent barbell its not big kind of like an eyebrow barbell but on the tip of my tongue its in the very front so the silver balls at each end are kinda close a few centimeters apart, i was wondering if theirs an offical name for it, bc ive been looking online and none of them are mine, also what would be the best way to take care of it, and will my speech be permanently changed? bc certain words i say funny and i dont like it i know it may be bc its a lil swollen since i just got it yesterday but i also know that the tip of your tongue is responsible for your speech ect, uhm another thing is im worried im going to chip a tooth, bc when i talk i kinda scraped the back of my front teeth, and sometimes lightly taps it, but theirs no way to prevent it since its right there in the front, and when i talk i move my tongue up against my teeth, is their something i can buy for my teeth to make them stronger? or to protect them? please help.

  1. Well, I can tell you that the tongue has many nerve endings that are very sensitive and damage easily. A piercing in the wrong place that may have done this could affect your speech. Be careful.

  2. I'm not sure what the piercing is called, did you ask to have it done like that or is it just the way they did it? I have my tongue pierced as well quite close to the tip but not right on it, once the swelling goes down your speech should go back to normal. As for your teeth my dentist told me that if i have to have my tongue pierced then I should wear the plastic jewellery. Not only do you have to worry bout chipping teeth but if you tend to run the ball up and down the back of your bottom front teeth like I do you start to wear away the gums!! But I've had it done for ten years and haven't caused any serious damage to my teeth.

  3. maybe you should have thought more thoroughly about having it pierced in the first place

  4. They have like this plastic like plate thing you can glue to your teeth kinda like a retainer but the best thing that works is the rubber type rings rather than silver or whatever the metal stuff is. type in flexible at the piercing site. Totally works for the speech problem and pretty much all problems.
