I think i have a virus, what should i do?

i asked a question on here the other day and someone replied with some weird link. stupid me forgot to see what the URL was (i always check) and clicked it. i exited out as soon as i could, but now my computer's acting really weird and when i tried to switch users on the computer it says my computer was locked. i need to act fast... what should i do?

Run your Anti Virus program that's what it's for.

Do you have a working, anti-virus program running on your PC?  If so, have it do a full computer scan now.

If not, follow the steps below:

1.) disconnect from the Internet, and turn off your PC (we do not want the virus to be passed on to others.)

2.) go purchase an anti-virus program on CD (I will not recommend a specific brand here.)

3.) follow the instructions that come with your new antivirus CD.

It will probably tell you to delete all old anti-virus software.  Do so.  

It will also probably want to scan the computer before it installs itself.  Yes, you want it to do this step.

If you are uncomfortable with doing this...call a friend or neighbor that knows something about computers to help you through this.

If your friends are not computer savy, call a computer repair technician near you.

Well don't you have an updated anti-virus on your system.

Get your system checked by any online virus scanner and hopefully you will get rid of any unwanted viruses.

To remove spyware download SpyBot Search and Destroy
