  1. Purchase a good anti virus/spyware CD from Office Depot.

  2. throw it away and get a new one

  3. Internet Explorer has many security issues.

So many that I refuse to use it anymore.

    Try Firefox.

Make sure you have a decent firewall and antivirus program as well.

Once you have them, you should be fine.  Go into every site that you used a password on and change it.

There are reasonable free programs you could use.

    Threatfire or AVGFree for antivirus.

Comodo or Zone Alarm for a firewall.

  4. Yeah you were stupid of enough to fall for their scam unfortunately. What you can do is download a Virus scanner using your own computer if possible. Otherwise, find another computer, and download AVG which is free and will remove spyware malware and virusess. That should get rid of the main problem

  5. I would AVOID Internet Explorer. If your computer is still acting up you may have to take it in and they can fix the problem for you- usually for low price if you have warranty on your PC.

But instead- use Mozilla Firefox. It is the safest web browser. Also make sure your Windows Firewall is turned ON.

  6. Well, you just got attacked by malicious spyware that directs your Internet Explorer to a certain site--much like the one you described.

This happened to me about a year ago.

I conducted a System-Restore to a point when I did not have this problem. It may take a couple of tries. Also, I had to start my Windows in SAFE MODE to get it to load the new preferences.

Also, make sure your spyware/anti-virus program is updated and running. It should find the treat.

It takes alot of trial and error to eradicate your pc of this. Have patience and maybe invite a friend over to help you.

If all else fails, bring your pc into a reputable computer repair shop.
