My wallpaper is bright blue now and has a message box on it saying "your computer may have spyware on it"

then it goes into a screen saver which is a windows reboot screen and it looks like its loading and then flashes to a text then back to the reboot and so on.

my windows one care is a green light and i did a scan and all is well, how do i fix this?

i also changed my screen saver/wallpaper, but it will change back the next day.

how do i fix this? My computer knowledge is very low......speak in laymans terms : )

thanks.

  1. www.webroot.com and download spysweeper works awesome I had that same problem and it fixed it also ditch the mcafee firwall and go to www.download.com Cnet very reputable source and search for trendmicro 30 day free trial it will help defend your computer trendmicro is one of the best

Edited : Mcafee is just about worthless i have comcast also thought it was a good deal with entire free internet sweet until I read on Cnet that it is hackable I went back to my original trend micro they shouldnt support company's such as Mcafee make them look good so you fall in line

Dont Download what they say to its part of the scam trust me check out webroot

  2. If the temperature of the computer is 101 or more, then you definitely have a virus.

  3. yup it is probably infected it somethin called like browser hijack n u should try n scan ur pc wid somethin good like superantispyware.com if that dont do it u should try this http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t...

    which helped me.

  4. Download the free version of Superantispyware.  I use this program and will resolve your problem as this software finds nasty viruses and spyware and best of all does not conflict with your own antivirus.  http://www.superantispyware.com  Update and run and in depth scan.  Free you must update daily on a manual basis or purchase and get auto. updates.

  5. Go to the link listed below. It's for the Windows Live One-Care Safety Scanner. Just click on Full Service Scan and follow the instructions. It will scan your computer for viruses and spy-ware. It will also scan your computer's registry. It usually takes 2 hours or so depending on the size of your hard drive. I have used it several times and I have had no problems with it. You also might consider downloading and installing Grisoft AVG. 8 free, it is a virus and spy-ware scanner in one. I have included a link to download.com where you can download it, if you think you need it. Also they have free weekly updates. Good Luck and have a virus and spy-ware laptop soon.

  6. If I remember correctly, One Care does anti-virus? If so, don't add another anti-virus program unless you take away One Care.  Anti-virus programs get into conflict.

Rainforest has some excellent advice there; I assume you realise you run those virus scans after the Google search?  ;-)  Sort of thing I would forget to mention.  :-D

The temperature isn't relevant to viruses, only hardware problems, which this isn't.  And it definitely sounds like something got onto the computer but did it start with a website saying your computer had problems and you should do such-and-such?  Never trust such sites or pop-ups; most of them are faking.

Anyway, you should be in good shape if you follow Rainforest's instructions.

EDIT:  And Tracdoor is right - don't click to download any programs that thing might suggest.
