  1. ^j^ Heart and Michael B are right. You should always have antivirus installed on every pc. You can try avast, avg or pctools and clamwin. All of them are great products, but please remember that all antivirus softwares, commercial or free, are only effective if you have the most recent virus definitions. It must be up  to date. If not they are useless.

What you can do is first, turn off your pc

    2. Disconnect your network/internet connection. Or turn of your router

    3. Check your network settings, there are viruses, spyware that can change your dns settings, and points you to their own dns, the one that they can contol.

    4. Do a full scan of your pc. Also if you have windows defender, use it and do a complete scan of your pc.

    5. You can also use windows defender Software Explorer to check if there are malicious programs that are running, I know it would be hard to identify them, but you can try to isolate them, look for something you are not familiar with, something that's not supposed to be there. Using Windows Defender's Software Explorer, you can Remove and Disable running programs, and it will give you a description of every program running on your pc.

    Hope this helps

  2. you need to by norton for £35, it will detect hacking and hack the guy back and delete everything on there comp that they can hack you with.

  3. kidthomasrosher, absolutley not. Norton will most deffinetley not go onto the hackers computer and delete hacking software.... i dont know where you pulled that from.. just no....

^j^ Heart is dead on. You have to make sure that you have some antivirus. What he mentioned (Avast) is good, but I personally recommend AVG. Both of these are free and it simply comes down to preference. I prefer AVG because I think it is easier to use. You can download this free version of AVG from free.grisoft.com

I would also recommend that you put a software firewall on your computer. Most people discourage it because the think it is useless, but it has helped me out before in the past. What it does is blocks everything on your computer from accessing the internet without your exclusive permission. This includes hackers that use your computer to send out SPAM e-mail. (This has happened to me before)

You can download a free firewall at www.pctools.com/firewall

Also, why not add some spyware protection? Sometimes a Spyware tool can find problems that neither AVG or Avast can.

You can download a popular and well functioning spyware remover at

    www.safer-networking.org

Also, I would add a WEP encryption to your router. Type your router brand and model number into google and find the default IP address, username, and password. Type the IP address into your browser, press enter, type in the user information, then find a WEP tab. under that follow the on screen diretions to make a WEP encryption. This provides basic protection against hackers and could detur an amateur.

Hope this helps. And remember, if all else fails, reinstall Windows!!! w00t!!!

  4. There are several things to do:

    1) Protect your computer from being hacked.

    2) Temporarily Disconnect your computer from your ISP connections, so that neither you or anyone else can access the internet, when the computer is on.

    3) Restart your computer.

Go to MyNetwork Places > click View Workgroup Computers > delete any that are not yours or your family

    4) Go to Control Panel > Windows Firewall >

a). tab General > click option ON

b.) tab Exceptions > Unclick everything except your email, or other services you approve like your game site, or Scrabble, or those you KNOW are legitimate

    c.) tab ADVANCED > Services >

UNcheck Remote Desktop > and any other you are not using.

    5) Run the AVAST program do a thorough scan.

    6) Allow AVAST to continue to run at all times.

    7) Go to Control Panel User Accounts

Disable all accounts that you do not use.

Set a password for the computer log-on (Administrator) and for all other user accounts give passwords.

    8) Set a password for access to your desktop:

Right click a blank space on your desktop > selelct PROPERTIES >

tab ScreenSaver > IMPORTANT: You must select a screensaver

then check the box " On Resume Password Protect"

and set the number of minutes you want for the screen to pop-up requiring log on.

I have mine set to only 3 mintues.

    9) Reconnect your computer to the internet access.

    Restart your computer

    10) get this tool:

    Avast free Home Edition

    Get it here:

    http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.ht...

And please do a "thorough" scan as soon as you get it downloaded. The user interface is simple. Click the left side, and in the top menu that comes up, select thorough scan.

When it finds a culprit DELETE, (do not quaranteen).

Then allow it to run all of the time, and you will be completely protected. It will "automatically" update itself, also for free.

You only need to renew your registration once a year, also free.

I've tried them all, and have had wonderful results with this one for the last 5 years.
