You'd be homely too, if you came from such a small gene pool. Looking at a family tree of European royalty is so confusing and the inbreeding is so common it's a miracle they aren't all silly in the head from it. Occasionally, someone, generally a man, takes a spouse from outside the circle, which keeps the pool from being too contaminated for safe swimming, but there's only so much someone like Grace Kelly's genes can do for a group like that. Thank goodness they are starting to get into the idea of marrying from the outside fringes or marrying commoners, or they'd be sunk.

I agree and I think it's weird - because cosmetic surgery is well within their economical reach and like movie stars, they are forever in the media.

Princess Ann, who has lovely features could really have done with a chin implant for example - and her hair-style has always made her appear older than her years.

This is mostly caused by inbreeding. Most european monarchies are related by blood. The royal family only marries within their own distant relatives. Queen Elizabeth II married her cousin twice removed Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburg. Prince Charles and Princess Diana were distant cousins. Prince Charles and his current wife, Camilla are 9th cousins. Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson are also distant cousins.

As a result, most of their offsprings will look a little bit odd. I personally believe the most strangest looking royal member is Princess Beatrice of York. Her eyes are so different, it always freaks me out.

The Danish and Swedish royal family produced some  extraordinary looking figures. Prince Frederik, Crown Prince of Denmark and Prince Carl Philip, Duke of Värmland of Sweden all looks so yummy. Princess Madeleine, Duchess of Hälsingland and Gästrikland of Sweden is a striking beauty.
