First I don't even know what TSH stands for....help. One of my doctors suggested I have blood work done to test my thyroid. The results were mailed to me, but I don't understand them. They read: TSH 1.06 [0.27-4.20] mcIU/mL Thyroid problems run in my family. What is "normal" TSH and what is considered Hypothyroidism?

  1. It says right there that the normal range is    0.27-4.20   and yours is 1.06.  You are in the lower end of the normal range.

  2. TSH is "thyroid stimulating hormone"

diagnosing hyper or hypothyroidism is more complex then one lab reading.  You must see a doctor.

A low TSH is suggestive of hyperthyroidism (not hypothyroidism)
